I had this same type of opportunity 5 years ago. A 30% more offer with a company in Hickory, NC and we decided to take it and move. It was the best decision I have ever made for my family. My wife was in her (she thought) dream job, but it was very stressfully working full time for her and trying to raise a family (our kids were 5 & 3 at the time). With my raise, she quit her job and really enjoyed spending more time with the kids and doing things at the school. Kids are only young once and she really loved being a part of their lives more. The flexibility and availability of her being there for the kids was the best part and helped me out as well not having to worry about babysitters and having to take time off myself. Now that they are older, she is doing some part time stuff that she really loves - helping run a yoga studio and doing some health product sales, but still is able to coordinate her schedule around the kids.
