It's likely next year that only 2-4 active players will have played 2000+ games. Typically 10-12 each year but it's declining.
Is LaTroy Hawkins still around? He was last year and if he's still playing, he'd have to have been around that long, as old as he is, wouldn't he?

Al Bundy, it was in response to a certain poster saying "A-Rod is the best he's seen in his lifetime." Both Bonds and A-Rod roided. Bonds' 2001-2004 span, roids or not, are the best numbers of all-time.

Numbers-wise, they are.

I'll say however Alex did it longer than Barry numbers wise. Bonds just exploded there from 36-39 when he did nothing but hit home runs.

I'm beyond pumped that the MLB has to allow live streaming on Fox Sports Go for all games. One of the worst things about NW Ohio is that you can't get MLB.TV for the Reds, Indians or Tigers but some carriers do not have Fox Sports Detroit or Fox Sports Cincinnati. Definitely a lifesaver

So misleading. From 1998 to 2010 he hit over 30 HR and 100 RBI every season with his rookie year (36/123/.358) and last year (33/86/.250) as outliers. Bonds wasn't even in the MLB until he was 21 and took 5 years to become an all star caliber hitter.

It's pretty damn close IMO but I think playing SS is a harder position defensively and to win gold gloves with that kind of power puts him ahead

It's not close at all and the only thing you could say is Arod did play a harder position. It's not like Bonds was terrible in LF though he did win 8 gold gloves.
The only batting stats Arod has better numbers in is RBI's and hits. But I'm sure Bonds would have gotten some more hits if he wasn't being intentionally walked 688 times in his career compared to Arods 97 intentional walks (Bonds had 1 season where he was intentionally walked 120 times!). Bonds also had much more patience at the plate 2558 walks (1870 after accounting for IBB) and only 1539 strikeouts compared to 1324 walks for Arod and 2220 strikeouts.
Years WAR GP AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO BA OBP SLG SB OPS+
BONDS 22 162.4 9847 2986 2227 2935 601 77 762 1996 2558 688 1539 0.298 0.444 0.607 514 182
AROD 21 118.9 10341 2719 2002 3070 541 31 687 2055 1324 97 2220 0.297 0.392 0.554 326 142

Classy man, you're the first person I've ever heard say A-Rod is better than Bonds.

Bonds has him in almost every damn category for their careers. And their careers are essentially the same amount of years. A-Rod has a 40-40 year...Bonds has 2! It's closer to being a landslide for Bonds, than a small margin for A-Rod.

Bonds had 3 MVPs by age 29, Arod had 2 at that age.

Bonds was the best player in baseball before roids and better than Babe Ruth and Ted Williams (as a 40 year old) on them.

Classy further bringing the lulz with his stupidity.

I don't know which argument is worse. This one classy is spewing or gut's Pete Rose longevity argument.

Interested to see if he can continue from last year...but it sure looks like he's worked tirelessly to get even better.

Detroit once again blows a save. Same shit different year. They're offense definitely is intriguing, 8 RH hitters ran the Marlins out of righties in the pen allowing them to get the run off a lefty in the 11th

Uh oh. Josh Donaldson mashes a HR and now is out of the game and replaced by Darwin Barney.

That's pretty much the same.

To be followed by "Darwin Barney mashes a weak grounder for an out."
