I can argue for him a bit.

* Ball was trapped so to speak just not by the wall but by warning track surface

We are taught from early age if the ball is at the wall/fence and is trapped....don't touch it and put arms up.

Now common sense makes him look ignorant as in nearly every case with a trapped ball (minus Wrigley ivy)...the ball could easily be dislodged/picked up in the motion of the play. He was a step or so from wall so not sure what his eye level was but maybe his eye level could not immediately detect the bottom of mat not touching ball (much easier for us as camera angle is way back from wall with a perfect angle. Not convinced he had the immediate angle to see what we saw.

Players do dumb stuff and at least this ignorant play was in the split second moment.

Did you notice how far the ump had to reach his hand under the pad to flick the ball back back out from under it. It is clear to me that the ball skipped back in there, well out of sight, and to the OF he didn't know what the status of the ball was, and you are taught if it goes in a tight space not to try to retrieve it and empower the runner to circle the bases. The ball was visible to everyone but the player closest to it!

Watching a little ST with the Yankees. It's incredible that Arod came up in the strike season 1994. In his first game a teammate of his pitched...and that same pitcher pitched against Al Kaline and Frank Howard.

Jason Giambi was teammates with Dennis Eckersley, who played with Frank Robinson. Similar.

It's Bonds and it's not even close.

Guy was a hall of famer before he ever got on the juice, one of the best all around players ever. Juiced or not the plate discipline he showed during that 2001-4 stretch was like nothing the sport has ever seen. Guy would get maybe one pitch a game to hit and never seemed to miss it. That was at an advanced age as well. Had he been juicing like A-rod in his 20's I can't even imagine the kind of player he could have been.

You have to factor in that classy is about 17 years old (based on the material of his posts).

From 2001-2004, Barry Bonds posted stats over a 4-year span that blow away anything else in baseball history. His 2001, 2002 and 2004 seasons individually are probably the 3 best single seasons of all time.

Not that I know of. Teams going younger and they'd have to be in their 18th season.

It's likely next year that only 2-4 active players will have played 2000+ games. Typically 10-12 each year but it's declining.

Pretty sure Azu wasn't saying that Bonds wasn't on roids. He was just saying that in an argument of who was better between Arod and Bonds it doesn't matter since they both were most likely using during the best periods of their careers.
