So is Al Michaels from NBC?

I don't understand this move for Tirico. Unless he was sick of doing every single sport...

He will take over SNF when Fred Gaudelli and Al Michaels retire after NBCs next super bowl. He will likely do TNF this year for the NBC portion, as well as Olympics and their tennis coverage.

They probably told Tirico he had to come over now and take a role/pay cut, but it will pay off when Michaels retires.

Sean McDonough was rumored to be the leading candidate for the ESPN gig. Always liked him doing play-by-play.

i keep reading that ESPN is hemorrhaging money. it's likely that they are jettisoning a lot of their bigger contract guys to make the disney execs happy.

Well, Tirico already had the lead on MNF, which is about as big as it gets in the business. You never know, sounds like one where maybe NBC asked, offered "X" amount and ESPN can't/won't match it.

Lol. MNF is a joke and nowhere near the top. SNF is by far the best program on television. He also now gets to do Olympics, a Super Bowl, and the best NFL program...plus French Open/Golf if he wants it...

ESPN/ABC has a ton of stuff. But the only "championships" he would get are NBA Finals.

Lost Tirico, lost Bayless. Talent-wise, a wash.

Bayless leaving is major addition by subtraction.

Well, I consider the Super Bowl, the NFL, which comes with the network that has the coverage. So, yes, that is a perk.

As for the other things, he gets to do a lot more big events at ESPN that NBC doesn't have. MLB, NBA, NCAA, The Masters, The World Cup, Wimbledon, etc..but sure, if he's simply wanting to do the Super Bowl, then it's a good move.

I wouldn't necessarily call working for NBC better than working for ESPN, though.

But he doesn't and won't ever get the actual broadcast of the Masters. He is a studio host for the WC, etc.

The top of the profession is away from ESPN. Not with it.

Plus, better travel (both how you travel and how often) and pay (most likely, figures aren't known though). I guess just agree to disagree. Working for ABC/ESPN versus CBS or NBC is no comparison. And the top events you actually broadcast and the breadth of audience those events reach...also no comparison.

I I haven't looked at Emmy awards, but if be curious as to who consistently is winning them? Obviously you can win anywhere, but I don't think it would be a coincidence (if it's the case) Costas has the most. Foing further, you probably won't see many ESPN personalities winning many over the networks, outside of guys who maybe won for ABC and now are at ESPN.

[INDENT]Browns just stole a starting QB: Brandon Weeden. Much better than Tannehill. Will soon beat out Colt, have 6-7 good yrs. TRich AND Weeden!
