That could make the debates interesting, since I'd have to imagine H's strategy has to be to let Trump talk and lure him into a few fuck-ups. So this could wind up being more passive-aggressive than Dynasty and Jordo combined.

Those two debating would be the one thing that would get a third-party candidate 40+% of the vote. At minimum.

Hillary is going to try to bait him into going GOP primary Donald and it's going to backfire. He's in close mode.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump picked up the endorsement on Monday of the union representing 5,000 federal immigration officers, a boost of support for his immigration policy ahead of his first debate with Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Trump has laid out a hardline position on illegal immigration, proposing to build a wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico and take other steps to crack down on the flow of undocumented people crossing into the United States.
With immigration likely to be discussed at the debate, the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union representing 5,000 federal immigration officers and law enforcement support staff, announced it would support Trump, in what was described as its first endorsement of a candidate for elected office.
The union's president, Chris Crane, outlined in a statement why his group is backing Trump, saying his union members are "the last line of defense for American communities" and that his members "are prevented from enforcing the most basic immigration laws."
A CNN/ORC poll released on Sept. 7 said that among registered voters, 49 percent said they trusted Clinton to handle immigration, a slight advantage over Trump, who was at 47 percent.
Crane said the endorsement was conducted by a vote of the union's membership and that Clinton received only 5 percent of the vote.

I had already said, and I quote:

"Time to fall in line or be marginalized within the party."

Any last shred of credibility about Cruz being a man of conviction went out the window.

It's a hugely good strategy. The less he talks, the lower the chance he says something stupid, AND the more likely she gets caught in a lie.

I've never used the debates for a drinking game, but this year might be the year. Any time a candidate gives an answer to the moderator without mentioning any actionable policy, you take a shot.

Pretty sure I'll have alcohol poisoning before it's over.

Subordinating one's self interests to the greater good of the country is virtuous.

Except jumping on the bandwagon is better for his self-interest. It prevents him from being marginalized within the party.

He didn't just suddenly have a come-to-Jesus moment and do a 180. Either he was lying about opposing Trump in the first place and thought he was best for the country (not likely, since there's no real incentive to oppose him at that point) OR he knows that his next attempt at being elected will have him getting slaughtered over the fact that he "tried to let Hillary win," or some such verbiage.

Opposing the party nominee was worse for his political reputation, but it demonstrated a desire to not sacrifice his convictions. Flipping and supporting the party nominee was better for his political reputation ... easily so ... but it showed him to be a man of no backbone. He is this year's "Bernie Sanders" of the Republican Party, only he held out a little longer.

I definitely would. However, I'd put even odds on whether I pass out before she needs a break.
