I had Sega, but was jealous of the SNES just becasue of mario kart.

In the end, I would take the Genesis again.

I loved the Genesis and thought it was better but SNES had two of my favorite games ever in Mario Kart and Goldeneye.

Coach K College Basketball for Sega Genesis is still the best college hoops video game of all time.

I had a Genesis, loved MLB '95 and College Football's National Championship... the Mariners were rediculous on MLB '95... Griffey, Buhner, Martinez back to back to back not fair

Genesis never had the RPGs to compare to Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2 (4) and 3 (6), Secret of Mana, etc. Genesis never had Zelda, nor did it have the main Mega Man titles (I think it got one that was an offshoot). Sonic and Vectorman were fun, but they didn't compare with the RPGs for me.
Yeah, other than the Phantasy Star and Shining Force games (including Shining in the Darkness), you didn't have much RPG action on the Genesis.

And if you include the Japanese RPGs for the SNES (of which many have had translation patches released online for emulation), the gap gets even bigger. I think Fire Emblem's better than Shining Force overall AND you add Dragon Quest V and VI and Final Fantasy V to the mix (as well as a lot more games).

Some of my favorite baseball games are on the Sega.

I cannot wait to get back into playing Bill Walsh College Football.

Unfortunately lost in the mix was the TG-16. The Bonk's Adventure games were fun answers to Mario and Sonic. Probably not on their level, but still fun. And that system might have outpaced the Genesis as far as having the best shooters with games like Super Star Soldier and Blazing Lasers (or was it "LaZers", as I think there was a bit o' a misspelling in the title). And a lot of people I know who were into the TG look at the TG-CD Castlevania game as the greatest moment in that series.

But overall, NEC didn't have the American support for their system to be a viable competitor in the console wars.
