Anyone ever have trouble with a ceiling vent. I have more than a few that they did a shit job of installing. They screwed them straight into the drywall. Sometimes they only got one screw in. I've tried to fix them but just make a bigger mess of the drywall.

Anyone have a good solution besides replacing the drywall in my ceiling?

Also if it helps the duct work comes straight down to the drywall with nothing to screw into. I'm tempted to try to put some wood on top of the drywall and try to screw to that but the vents are at the very edge of the ceiling by the roof so I'm not sure how to get to it from the attic, and I'm afraid I will mess up the duct work if I push it up in to put the wood there

Couple of options for yea. If you dont have much room you can always loosen the duct up and slide a piece of wood on the other side of the dry wall and screw it down. Make sure you screw it down first to the drywall before putting the vent up.

I did try drywall anchors (not those exact anchors) and just broke the hell out of the drywall. I like the idea of screwing the wood to the drywall and then pulling the vent back down. I'm going to try that next.
