Since it's been made official that i'll be taking over the Day to Day ops for Justin, I wanted to reach out to the community to see what you'd like to see done to improve your experience here on the OC. I know a lot of folks are turned off by the Thread Shitting, and the Personal attacks, but I'd like to hear what else you'd improve/change/add/remove.

Abussive moderation and thread bans desperately need to be addressed.

There are some mystery mods around here that have personal vendettas against certain posters, and see fit to constantly hand out thread bans with no accountability at all as to whether they are abusing that privilege.

This site desperately needs some sunlight as far as the moderation goes because that serves as the best disininfectant as far as discovering those that are abusing their privilage and then making them face the consequences.

The site is also overrun by trolls who serve no purpose other than mocking and attacking others and their is just no place for it in these parts. Since they are unable to handle battle on the field of ideas they resort to constant attacks and it becomes extremely tiresome.

Everyone knows who they are, and they have been allowed to reign with impunity for years now and the site is worse off for it. Reigning that group in is the first of many steps needed to get this place back on the right track.

Well, we know where this thread is going with IQQY posting, but I like the way the moderation has been. Thread banning has been eliminating most thread shitting. I think you need mods who are more active and I would go even further to have the OC vote who they want to be the moderators. Also, if you have a sense of a thread turning to shit, I would ask or get a feel to see if the posters want to have that poster thread banned.

They have done nothing in the last 3 years to even give the benefit of the doubt that they will change and prove they can contribute to those particular threads.

Shocking, talk of reigning in the trollish posters bring like_that out of the woodwork.

He's breaking out in a cold sweat right now just thinking about the idea of it after being able to run wild all these years without consequence.

I do like the idea of a vote on new moderators. I want to keep the current ones on, as like you, I feel they've done a pretty good job, especially with the lack of rules that the site was founded on.

I do like this idea as it allows accountability.

However, there are a few posters on here that are known trolls, specifically when it comes to Cleveland sports....hell he's said as much, and he's aware any time he shows up on a Cleveland thread, and trolls he's getting a ban.

The personal attacks are pretty much bullshit. You try to state your own personal opinion (what the site's for, correct?) and you take shit for it? If you don't agree, you don't agree.

As far as thread banning/shitting. I do agree that one posters' (Tiernan) sole intent is to troll but I don't necessarily get that from Iggy 100%. He's a frustrated Cleveland fan, like many of us, but in many cases he's just a bit "over the top." He does provide "some" good insight but a lot of it comes across kind of "drama queen-ish." I don't have a huge problem with his input.

I just view it as ball busting. My friends and I do the same thing to each other and nobody's feelz get hurt. We always move on. Just like cleveland threads. We always move on, because at the end of the day we are all supporting one cause and that is to see a title in Cleveland.

Also, completely disagree with your take on IQQY. His act is 100% troll. Even if something is going well, he sets it up so he can cry/troll about something else. We all (well most of us) have caught on to the pattern. Tell me one time iqqy got excited off a win or play? Last year when things were going well for the Browns he was nowhere to be found. IQQY literally has the same blueprint for every FO. They hire a new FO and from day 1 he talks about how terrible they are without even giving them a chance to do their job. The dude was literally calling for farmer and pettine's job before week 1 last year. He did the same for the previous regimes. It is the same pattern that most of us have already caught on. Once the Browns ever turn it around, he will either disappear or slightly adjust his troll act (i.e. call for insert coach's head when he loses in the SB). Every week he sets up his troll act in a way that even if the browns win he can find a way to bitch and moan (troll). It's such a predictable act.

The only time I have legitimately have not been happy with what a poster has done is when said posted my personal info, along with my family's home address. The moderation (or there lackof) didn't chase members off -- people growing up, getting married, and having kids did. The lack of new members is just a simple fact that message boards are dying and being replaced with any of the many other forms of social networking (twitter, reddit, whatever).

The rest of us are just JJHuddle refugees that are moving on with our lives.
