The very best way I've found to watch a Browns game is to record it and fast forward through the plays. It reduces the torture session to just about 35 minutes. Get healthy.

I think it was Heretic who made a valid point about NE and their RB's. With Tom Brady, defenses respect the pass more than the run and a blindfolded monkey could go off at RB in that system. The Browns don't have the QB,or the offense, for Lewis to be putting up those numbers.

And there are no fans "in the know."

And the Browns have that RB on their roster. His name is Duke Johnson. Plug him in NE's system and he's putting up similar, if not better, numbers than Lewis. It's ALL about Tom Brady and that system.

Yeah if you watched that game last night, Lewis was wide open pretty much the entire time. It's so easy to play his role in the offense. You're basically the guy the defense has to concede because they can't cover everyone.

1) The Browns are dysfunctional top to bottom.
2) Johnny Manziel should be playing....although not because he's the second coming of Brian Sipe, but because they've invested a lot in him and they need to find out if he can play. It is all about the quarterback, and when you have one that can get the team into the endzone consistently and often, you are going to have a winner.
It's easy to stop the Browns...just stuff the run and wait for McCown's drives to stall, or for him to make a mistake(especially in the clutch). Why? Because that is the guy's history.
Very simply put, the Browns need to find a guy at QB that can produce. They should play Manziel, and if he doesn't do well, then move to Austin Davis. But above all, they need to have a handle on the QB situation before they go into next year.

I don't think many would disagree with 1 or 2. Yes, the Browns are dysfunctional and yes, Manziel should be starting if for no other reason than to see whether he can be the QB of the future.

Where FW gets the bashing is his over the top/Chuck Booms-like slobbering on Manziel's knob like the kid has actually PROVEN something in this league. The problem here lies in the fact that "Cueball" isn't in the "evaluate the 2nd year QB for the next regime" business. He's in the "play the guy 'I' feel gives me the best chance to win to save my job" business. As fans, we ALL would likely prefer seeing what Manziel can do but I think Pettine knows he's on the hot seat and is doing what he feels is right to save his job.

ESPN just now posted that McCown will be healthy enough to go and he is starting Sunday.

Mike is a defeated man at this point. The league has figured out how to ravage the only defensive system he knows and now he won't cut the cord on his 36 year old journeyman who is 2-15 in his last 17 starts.

With that kind of record most coaches would consider making a change because if nothing else the guy has a losing stench about him, but in Pettine's world that is apparently a feature and not a bug,.

When he is ultimately canned I think he is going to look back at his time here with tremendous regret when it hits him his own stubbornness and arrogance sabotaged his chance to be a successful coach more than anything from the outside.

Pettine might be able to buy himself some time if he agrees to get rid of O'Neil if the defense continues to be such a tremendous problem. The guy is obsessed with O'Neil, but given a choice between keeping his job or getting rid of him he might finally agree to it.

I am also concerned that Haslam is too stubborn to admit he was wrong in the pre-season when he basically said these guys weren't getting fired and we were on the right path. Guys like him hate being embarrassed, and having to admit that he has picked yet another failed regime so soon after the last one might be more than he can handle right now.
