Twins are in town for a 4 game series starting tonite.
The first game features a rematch of Corey Kluber and Phil Hughes.
The Tribe will need to take all 4 games to jump Minnesota in the wild card race....taking 3 games will leave only a flicker of hope...a series split ends the Tribe's season.
It's sad commentary on Cleveland that so much interest is put into the Factory of Sadness, when the Indians have been making a strong September run. The Tribe is a much better value for your entertainment dollar, and you won't go broke at the concession stand.

Maybe they wouldn't have been in a position to need a strong September run just to get to where they're at if ownership wouldn't have been cheap with Lindor. It was obvious how weak our defense was, and defense is what led to our early season problems.HitsRus;1753714 wrote:

Only speaking for myself, but it's really hard for me to support two teams at the same time who continually shoot themselves in the foot. It's nice that the Indians are trying to make a move, but it's not enough for me to really get into it after they f*cked themselves in the first few months. It generates more frustration than enjoyment when I think about them.

I'm not sure going from 4 games back on 8/31 to 4 games back on 9/28 qualifies as a strong run.

You were right about needing Brooms. Beyond just the math of the wild card a loss tonight would give the Twins the season series as it would be their 10th win out of a possible 19 games. I think they use head to head as a tie breaker still when it comes to the wildcard play-in game if there is a tie.

I would have never thought that Kluber would end up at 8-16. Wow.
I imagine he will get one more start, though.

That they are roughly .500 (1 game below) given that is impressive.BRF;1753818 wrote:I would have never thought that Kluber would end up at 8-16. Wow.

He hasn't gotten alot of support, but his ERA hasn't exactly been stellar either.
He should be better next year. He can go into the off-season without having to worry about the contract situation and come out with a chip on his shoulder that this year was a fluke.

Team record in Kluber starts in 2014/2015 by offensive runs scored
0 or 1 run scored: 1-6 vs 0-8
2-4 runs scored: 7-5 vs 3-12
5+ runs scored: 14-1 vs 7-1
There's 1 glaring difference in those results from year to year. The run support sucked overall, but you need your ace to be able to win some of the 2-1, 3-2 types of games instead of coming up on the wrong end almost every time.

Kluber wasn't able to limit the damage in his bad innings this year. Leads the majors in "no-hit" innings pitched, but routinely gave up 3 or more in the innings when he was knocked around.

Yesterday's first inning....Kluber got the first two outs, then gave up three very loud hits...double, double, HR. 3-0 before the Tribe came to bat.
Coming down the stretch, the Tribe had 7 games with Minnesota for a shot at the WC....they are 1-3 with 3 to go.

How did the scouts all miss so bad on Lindor's bat?
Not only can he hit, but he looks like he could be a 20 homer guy as he develops with the ability to drive in a healthy amount of runs each year.

As far as Kluber goes, I think there's something wrong with him physically.

Tribe down early...1-0 in the second inning.
last night the red hot Angels jumped the Astros and half a game lead . Minnie still right there too.
