"Some customers waited three hours to get to the pumps."

To save maybe $30...less the 5 gallons or so they probably burned idling in line all that time.

This is one of life's biggest mysteries to me: People waiting hours at a time to save a few bucks on something. Marion's Pizza in Dayton ran a promotion at the beginning of the month where a large pizza was like a dollar or two. There's a location near me and the line was wrapped around the building twice. To save like $10 on pizza.

Money is time. Poor people go out of their way for examples like waiting an hour and paying $2 for a $10 pizza. Not to mention likely eating like that every meal and damaging their own personal value and inflating health care costs. But hey, on the surface, $8 was saved...

Well, inherently we all do the same time/value calculation....the more time you have, the more a few bucks is worth your time. And who cares about health care costs - they're getting that for free.

They might be getting that for free, but their still spending time/money for health care that could be avoided. I know this is a can of worms to open, the point was more to clarify just how much you're NOT saving by waiting for the discounted pizza haha.
