Hunters always do more for conservation than non hunters. Just because I hunt (a lot) doesn't mean I don't respect nature.

This is exactly right. Costs for hunting typically go back to the Department of Natural Resources (in the US).

Hunting also helps control animal population. The DNR's do a good job of ensuring bag limits are at levels that do help control animal population (more than just sheer numbers, also looks at male/female populations). Law abiding hunters know the importance of conservation.

Hunters are also the first ones to recognize there may be a potential issue with certain animals. Take deer for ex, hunters were the first to recognize and report Cwd and tuberculosis in deer.
