I'm thinking that it is going to take 87 wins minimum to make that second wild card play in game. That might even be low.
That means the Tribe needs to go at least 54-35 in these last 89 games.
It's time to get moving, as every loss just makes that number seem that much further away.

I've already given up on the playoffs. The offense needs new blood.
As for firesale, only "core" guy is be willing to part with is Carlos, if they got a decent return. That guy refuses to make any adjustments to his swing and it's pissing me off. Lol

It's like batting practice out there for them right now.
Meanwhile we haven't scored in 13 innings so far today.

Tito's going deep into the pen already and it's only the 4th inning.

Doesn't get much easier as they head to Tampa for 4 tomorrow night, then 3 with Pittsburgh, and 4 with Houston.

Tribe fails to score in the 6th in game#2....not only are we going to be swept in the series and today's DH....but we may be shutout today, too.

Today has been as shameful a stretch of baseball as I have seen in a while.

....and that's the way it ends...8-0. Nary a tribesman crossed the plate today...swept in the DH...swept in the series.. Hopefully the nadir as far as the season goes.

Tribe heads to Tampa Bay today. Anderson will put his 0.00 ERA on the line today...hopefully he can stop the bleeding.

Makes you scratch your head to see how this ownership & front office can't build through the farm system while young up and comers (KC, Houston) seem to be doing everything right.

I said a couple of threads ago that it was past time to evaluate whether Shaponetti should continue to have their jobs.BR1986FB;1737778 wrote:Makes you scratch your head to see how this ownership & front office can't build through the farm system while young up and comers (KC, Houston) seem to be doing everything right.
What have they done to give anyone confidence that they are the guys who can lead us through another rebuild? Like it or not, that is where we are right now as this offense is fundamentally broken, and I think their approach to offense in both free agency and the draft is a large part of the reason it has been impotent for so many seasons with nothing really changing.
These guys have had the longest leashes of all time.

I've said, on numerous occasions, that Shapiro/Antonetti are pretty decent at evaluating other teams' talent when acquiring them via trade but are pretty piss poor at talent evaluation when drafting their own. Too bad we can't get rid of all of them, including Daddy NoBucks Dolan.IggyPride00;1737787 wrote:I said a couple of threads ago that it was past time to evaluate whether Shaponetti should continue to have their jobs.

I think that the weirdest thing about your situation is that, over the years, I've heard a lot of good things about a lot of your prospects while in the minors, but then so many of them didn't pan out. I don't know if that's been bad luck over the years, bad MLB coaching of them over the years or primarily guys being overvalued by home fans due to inflated minor league numbers, but it seems a lot of guys I would have expected to have been, at the least, quality MLB contributors (ie: not necessarily stars, but guys who could string together respectable careers and stick around a while) never really panned out.BR1986FB;1737789 wrote:I've said, on numerous occasions, that Shapiro/Antonetti are pretty decent at evaluating other teams' talent when acquiring them via trade but are pretty piss poor at talent evaluation when drafting their own. The total inability to draft/develop any semblance of a power bat over the past decade to me is a fireable offense.Heretic;1737875 wrote:I think that the weirdest thing about your situation is that, over the years, I've heard a lot of good things about a lot of your prospects while in the minors, but then so many of them didn't pan out. By dumb luck alone you'd think they would have at least one right handed power stick emerge, and it has just been a sea of nothingness.
When I look around at all the young sluggers in MLB right now I just shake my head because these guys are out there, and other teams are finding them.
That is why I think this front office needs a new approach. They have failed for so long to secure a power bat either through the draft, trade or free agency that you just have to wonder if they have a blind spot when it comes to talent identification in that regard.
It has been a decade or so now, and to me that is more than enough time. There is just a complete lack of urgency from the top down in this organization and the approach just needs to change.
Making the play in game once since the 2007 and really failing to meet expectations this year is not enough to keep these guys around. Just not enough success, particularly when you look around at what similar small markets have accomplished in that period. We just aren't keeping up.
