I'm starting to realize that Boise State is no fluke. They are a good program from year to year.
And they'll be bringing back 20 starters next year. Wilson is really the only major loss.
Wow! I didn't know that.
This is why I've been saying for the past couple of years that the strength of a conference does not determine the strength of it's best team. Just because BSU plays in a bad conference does not mean that BSU is bad. With the season they had this year and with everyone they have coming back next year,
they should definitely be a national title contender if they go undefeated next year with the schedule they have. They open with Toledo, play at Wyoming (bowl winner), home against Oregon State, then at Virginia Tech. If they win those four games they will go into league play undefeated and should be considered one of the best teams in the country.
*cough*The BCS will never let this happen as long as they are in the WAC*cough*
But really, I'd love if it actually happened. The BCS realizes (or should) that having the National Champion come out of a non-BCS conference even farther decreases their hanging-by-a-thread credibility. But hell at this point they might not even care, no one takes them seriously anyway.
Good win for Boise State, though.
