After watching that, neither of those teams would stay within 21 points of Alabama.

I hope that was sarcasm, because I heard the same thing when Bama played Utah last year.

All over that Boise State win. But what I took away from this game? I can understand why LeGarrette Blount punched Byron Hout. Who wouldn't want to?

Agreed.

All year long I've been telling everyone that BSU was better than they were being given credit for because they had a good defense and no one seemed to notice. Well, it was their defense that won the game for them tonight.

Boise State now has as many BCS bowl wins (2) as Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Alabama combined!

And they'll be bringing back 20 starters next year. Wilson is really the only major loss.
Wow! I didn't know that.
This is why I've been saying for the past couple of years that the strength of a conference does not determine the strength of it's best team. Just because BSU plays in a bad conference does not mean that BSU is bad. With the season they had this year and with everyone they have coming back next year, they should definitely be a national title contender if they go undefeated next year with the schedule they have. They open with Toledo, play at Wyoming (bowl winner), home against Oregon State, then at Virginia Tech. If they win those four games they will go into league play undefeated and should be considered one of the best teams in the country.

^^^^Toledo should be much improved next season and for years to come now that they have one of the best indoor athletic facilities in the nation - should serve as a major recruiting tool. With the out of conference schedule next year, it's hard to say that Boise won't deserve a chance if they go undefeated. Wyoming is on the rise and Oregon St and Vtech are solid programs. However if it comes down to multiple undefeateds like this year, I still feel that Boise will be left out because of their conference schedule. Granted, who finishes undefeated would have a strong impact on if Boise gets left out. Hypothetically speaking, let's say Alabama dominates again next year and goes undefeated, Oregon has a monster year and goes undefeated and wins the PAC-10, Ohio State goes undefeated and wins the big 10, and then Boise. In a case like this, I don't think you can put an undefeated Boise St team in the national championship over an Alabama, Oregon, or Ohio State. I think Boise will enter the season ranked in the top 5, they will have room to move up with their out of conference schedule, but will be jumped down the stretch when they enter conference play. This program still continues to impress me though. It's a tough call every year and they are the exact reason Division 1 college football needs a playoff. Boise is a damn good team that gets screwed every year. Shame on the NCAA.

*cough*The BCS will never let this happen as long as they are in the WAC*cough*

But really, I'd love if it actually happened. The BCS realizes (or should) that having the National Champion come out of a non-BCS conference even farther decreases their hanging-by-a-thread credibility. But hell at this point they might not even care, no one takes them seriously anyway.

Good win for Boise State, though.
