I think lebron will coast like last season but I don't except to be under .500 after 40 games. They needed half of the season to figure out their identity (plus make trades). There is no honeymoon stage this time around.

I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty surprised this Tristan Thompson saga has dragged out this long. He must be incredibly stubborn to go to these lengths and expect a similar deal to Kyrie. I think I read something yesterday that stated the 5-year, $94M deal that he wants would cost the Cavs about $44M in luxury tax. That's absolutely crazy. He's obviously banking on Gilbert doing whatever it takes to win. These greedy bums...

Cavs finally going to bring over Kaun, 7-footer from Russia drafted in '08.

Putting pressure on TT I think.

He is not a true foreign player. Played HS in Florida and went to Kansas for 4 years.

Irving out until January. Does not matter, as long as they finish in the top 8, they win the east once he is healthy.

Probably a good thing. Only thing that is bad, they won't be able to rotate love and lbj with rest as often to start the year. Well, they still could, but likely won't.

It isnt official that he is out until Jan. THe "inside source" just said he wouldn't be surprised if it was until January. I bet Irving plays in December.

at this point i'd try to orchestrate a sign and trade with him. he's determined to be a headline all fucking season long and that's not what the cavs need.

Agreed.

I posted that because it was from Sheridan. Not sure if he has a mole in Lebron's camp but he was the only one who stuck to his guns about his sources saying Lebron was returning to Cleveland when he did.

Sheridan reported the Lebron story, and he's legit, but spend 10 freaking seconds and look at the byline from the article. "By Michael Scotto". It wasn't "from Sheridan"

isn't today D-day with Tristan's qualifying offer sheet?

doesn't anyone think it's wierd that he didn't even go out to other teams to get offers? he just expects the cavs to pay 95 million because he wants it, when we all know if he goes out for offers the most he gets is like 60 million. i'm really frustrated with TT as a fan now.

I think other teams wouldn't offer him anywhere near what the Cavs are offering which is why they haven't. They saw the initial offer, 5 years $80M and said "Too much" and left it at that.

I hope he walks honestly. Go play for some shit team and make less money.

And less money. A max from Toronto next season is about what the Cavs offered him this season (and less than a max the cavs can offer next season). lol at his diva bitch boy wanting to be known as a "Max" player.

I have to agree with this. Although signing TT would be nice, he's not needed to win a championship in Cleveland. Love, Irving, and Lebron plus the other role players on the roster are enough to be competing for championships for the next few years. TT is a nice piece, but he's not crucial. If Irving pulled this stunt, no doubt the Cavs would bulk(Irving is obviously a max player though so maybe bad comparison), but TT is holding on to false leverage. I also don't think letting Thompson go will have any impact on Lebron's contract situation for the out years. I think the only way Lebron leaves is if Gilbert completely shits the bed and neglects building a talented roster. TT or not, the Cavs have a talented roster.

Let him walk.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Gilbert went to Lebron privately and had a discussion about TT's contract situation. Publicly, Lebron has stated heavily that TT should always be a Cav but privately I imagine Lebron has told Gilbert otherwise. No way Gilbert is going to allow the Lebron leaving door to re-open over $15M dollars. The $80M is more than fair and you can bet Lebron privately has agreed.

Depends. How do we know that part of LeBron's agreement to return was contingent on an open check book from Gilbert to sign anyone/everyone. I think what LeBron would agree with is that TT is not WORTH that money, but that doesn't mean he'll agree that the Cavs shouldn't pay it.

This is a lose/lose situation. If Gilbert opens the checkbook to meet his demands, he's setting a precedent for other players to follow. If Thompson will truly ONLY accept the max, and Gilbert refuses, we lose a key piece of our team. To say Thompson isn't important is foolish. He single-handedly owned the offensive glass in the playoffs. However, he's obviously not even close to being worth that money, and I don't think there's ANY way that we can give in to his demands. Disappointing, nonetheless.

If that were the case, the deal would be done already.

Andy is just as good as TT if healthy. TT can go suck a big one.
