Both players were worse, with Boozer significantly worse, than RJ in VORP last year. Say what you want about all other stats, but VORP is the closest you can come to normalizing bottom of the barrel players like the 3 we're discussing. And RJ can at least hit 3's.

Also you're completely missing the point here. The point here is RJ sucks, has sucked, and will suck. There are guys in the NBA D League who are at least athletic, can give AT least what RJ will give (nothing), cost less, and have at least 1 iota of potential. It's up the front office to find these guys and sign them. Much rather take a flyer on a guy like Kyle Anderson, than waste time, resources, roster spot on trash (Perkins, Miller, Marion).

The guys in the D-League can give you fresh legs. RJ is good for about 2 consecutive minutes then he's winded. i'm with you, if we are just filling the roster, lets fill it with guys that if you need to give someone a 5 minute breather, the guy on the bench can give you 5 minutes without having a fucking infarction.

I completely agree with the point you're making, but I disagree with your implication that they're easy to find. Do I wish we signed someone better than RJ? Absolutely. But I don't really know who we would sign.

A better likelihood is getting rid of Haywood's contract and using the ensuing trade exception to pick up someone better than RJ during the season.

Yeah you absolutely need 1st round picks/hit on 2nd rounders to maintain a dynasty. You can't make the mistake of cycling through veterans every year, which is why I was cool with keeping Tyus as well.

Varejao blows and should be traded. Irving and Love, yes, but they aren't part of the bench. The Cavs probably have the worst bench in the NBA.

He was able to step into the Aaron Craft role for Ohioans as the "scrappy guy who plays really really hard to make up for lack of pure skill/athleticism". I think that is the most important role a player can have in this state to be considered awesome as fuck.
