Nice attempt at changing the subject. What's wrong, don't like looking like an a$$clown AGAIN? Maybe you can start another petition and rally to try and get my skill set?

There's five threads on the football board that have been touched in the last month. FIVE. And one of them is spam.
If we want to make a list of things that are pathetic, we can start there.
......and FWIW not too many of us are over 40.
Thanks for chiming in.

Keep calling each other names over high school football. I'll be right here laughing at the pathetic display of "grown men" name calling over 17 year old boys LOL

Not trolling. Just stating my opinion on a message board. Kind of the point?RedRider1;1739490 wrote:"Serious Business" celebrity I assume.

Before school had let out for the summer, I had heard that about 40 boys showed up for the football meeting. This did not include freshman from what I was told (could be wrong). Also, there are roughly 20 kids on the incoming freshman team and the coach has already said that those kids will stay as one unit playing only frosh ball...time will tell!CCRolly;1739555 wrote:Lets get back to the normal programming. I do know that there are two kids that played huge rolls on the varsity basketball team this past winter that WILL be playing football (neither played football last yr).
Both SHOULD help us on each side of the ball.

That is good news Old Rider! I hope all the kids are putting in the work that it takes to improve this summer. How is conditioning going? Numbers showing up there??Old Rider;1740618 wrote:Before school had let out for the summer, I had heard that about 40 boys showed up for the football meeting. Not sure that conditioning has even started?? I think the weight room has had its share of regulars showing up, but there are still kids playing summer baseball, working and vacations. The ones that WANT to be there will be there...the others will show up when they HAVE to. Same as it has always been...

Absolutely! Mason is all that is good with HS and college sports. If the NFL does not work out he will be prepared with a great education. You are right they just put everybody on the Lombardi and Butkus watch list. You are a first class piece of garbage. There is a legit chance for him. Lets see great work ethic, smart, strong, started in Big 10 for 4 years... Unlike you I actually root for our kids to be great and if he does or does not make it to the NFL will not change the fact that he will be successful in his life.Red Rider Nation;1740803 wrote:Did you say NFL? I can see where you are coming from if you are referring to the speed of the game at that level. Mason has never been a burner, but between the hashes is where a LB needs to be able to play and he has no problem there. He is big enough and strong enough...no question there. He has the football smarts and the leadership qualities to play at the next level as well. I think a team will give him a look, but maybe Mason will choose to start his family and his career outside of football and hang the cleats up once and for all. I wish him all the luck this coming season and whatever is ahead of him!Red Rider Nation;1740803 wrote:Did you say NFL? No chance!

Yeah, the lateral game is where LB's need to be strong to play every down in the league (at least it seems that way). Kid definitely has a legitimate shot at playing at the next level. Even if not a starter, he could be a fantastic special teams addition to a team. REALLY hard NOT to like this kid, super humble and a worker.Old Rider;1740864 wrote:I can see where you are coming from if you are referring to the speed of the game at that level. Excellent point. Ohio St. alum Bobby Carpenter was drafted in the 1st round by the Cowboys and started on special team before earning a LB position. He played in the NFL for 7 seasons.sanitizer;1740911 wrote: he could be a fantastic special teams addition to a team. REALLY hard NOT to like this kid, super humble and a worker.
No reason Mason can't.....but he could just as easily hang up the cleats and go be successful in whatever he chooses. Winners win....and he's got the faith, the drive, and the work ethic to be a winner in whatever he chooses.

Forgot to mention above...Mason is also currently 2nd in active players for career tackles among all FBS schools! Not too shabby...

Hey, nice of you guys to keep tabs on the alum....haha. 3% of HS kids get a football scholarship....of that 3% less than half ever start a game at the D1 level. of that 1/2 of those 3% about 1% of them ever play a down in the NFL. All that being said, Mason, if healthy, has as good a shot as any. He is a violent striker (which is why he led the B1G in forced fumbles), pulling guard/tackle/fullback if there is a collision at the LOS it is gonna stay there. Yes, there are kids faster, but if you keep him clean he has the ability to make up the extra step it with instincts. Nebraska last year in Lincoln...1st and goal from the 3, Bo sends a 250 lb fullback at mason with 245lb Imani Cross right behind him....lost a yard...In true Pellini fashion they ran the same play again for no gain. He inserted the speedy Amir Abdullah on 3rd down and he beat Mason to the corner with an outstretch hand just getting the football across the plane. a tight end got one arm on mason as he was scraping and that made the difference. And, of course my favorite from last year...4th and goal in the Shoe....he and Zeke met at the 1 yard line "mano y mano" and after the collision....ended up back at the three. Oh..It's been a fun three years...hard to believe it's gonna end. RTR
