Always good to get advice from the guy who couldn't cut it as a little league coach.

Yes he did-the thing your boy and Davault have in common is they are both bad coaches!!

Makes perfect sense. I have been hard on the boys for not paying the price in the summer all year. I don't know what you could be confused about there...

Pardon my paraphrase, but it's for succinctness:

rrfan: They should be in the weight room.
RRN: That's not happening.
rrfan: That's why I said it should happen.
RRN: That doesn't even make sense.

I try to stay out of this cluster of a thread most of the time (aside from the occasional cleanup, so none of you chuckleheads get banned), but that had me laughing.

Wow guys really? The part that doesn't make sense is him saying I must have a miserable life!! Seriously you guys missed that? What does kids not working hard in the weight room have to do with my life? Again that doesn't make sense! Are we all clear now??

I don't really care about whether or not your life is miserable. I don't know you. However, you quoted the entirety of his post and replied to it. Since the part to which you had replied prior was about kids in the weight room, it wasn't unrealistic to think you were again replying to that part of what he said.

Carry on.

I was told Davault put it out there for all frosh to dress tonight and next week.

I'm sure they'll only play if needed, but if we don't have the bodies, they may get a sniff.

Great job by Coach Slaughter and McCully for the job they did with the frosh....this is the way to build things. Keep the frosh as a unit and let their 9th grade year be a positive experience....not getting killed playing up on the JV team.

Or in the case of the previous 3 years...up on the varsity level and against the OCC.

I know I sound like a broken record...but this league change is perfect timing (still a little late IMO). Talent, size, and participation numbers are coming. We should have close to 40 boys on the varsity team next year (not including frosh). Thats about where we should be, and have been, in years past. Stay patient and positive Rider fans...its coming!!!

Frosh team...some linemen in that bunch. I think we graduate 3 starters on the line so there will be opportunities for this group.

While I am all for the conference change, playing in the OCC the past 2 years has helped this freshmen class. They got pounded on by bigger teams with better athletes both their 7th and 8th grade years, only winning one game each of those years, and getting beaten by 30+ points multiple times. Every class of players is different. Some would have folded it up and quit to find something easier. This class grew tighter as a team. They worked harder, practiced harder, and really pushed each other to get better. They came out this season with a chip on their shoulder, and it showed in the games. They were mad about the past 2 seasons, and took their frustrations out on the other teams this year. They played with confidence and expected to win every game. This will be a fun group to watch as they start playing varsity full time next year.

I might add that Coach Davault mentioned to me last night that of the 17-18 freshman on this team, he had a consistent 13-14 of them in the weight room @ 7am on every lifting day. Compare that to about 7-8 that he had consistently of the current varsity players. See RRfan...there are guys in the weight room putting in the work!!

Same here CC. I give our kids and coaches a lot of credit for continuing to work hard.

Wooster needs to beat us to secure the playoffs & a OCC tie. They haven't officially clinched anything yet. I'm sure Haas mentions that a few times this week to those kids.

Encouraging thing is that we had 4 kids score TD's last night...Hersh, Robinson, Conway and Fitzgerald (he scored two).

All 4 plus Domer are back next year. Your top 2 on D (Auble & Ramsdell) are back too.

Luke will be tough to replace and we lose 3 senior off. linemen. Next Riders Up!

Yes. He is the village idiot, whom doesn't even live in the village. Never played a down of competitive high school football. A real Nick Saban if you ask me.

That's what I figured...there seem to be a few of those running around in our local villages.
