What is everyone listening to right now.

I'm loving the new Alabama Shakes album. I am also liking the stuff I've heard from Florence and the Machine that's going to be on her upcoming album. I've liked the few songs off the Zac Brown album I've heard and a few songs by Run the Jewels. Anything else worth checking out.

Nothing comes to mind, but has anyone else seen a dramatic decline in the quality of FM radio the past ten years? I can hardly stomach it anymore.

New Slipknot album is really good. Been listening to that a lot lately. Also a fan of Run the Jewels, not a big fan of their politics but I enjoy their music.

I'm not talking music, but radio itself.

It seems like most stations have turned into short-playlist, mindless/corny DJ's, and absolutely dreadful morning shows.

Back in the day the top-40 stations were like that, but now it seems like nearly all stations fit that build.

I gotcha on the dreadful morning shows. Just play me some fucking music, not talking and everyone in the studio laughing!

Kinda quiet on the commercial hip hop front. With the exception of Drake and Kendrick Lamar. But I'm about Drake'd out at this point.

... Over the wknd. I watched some of the acts from the Coachella music festival and IMO, most of those bands suck. The music is all the same ( nothing to distinguish themselves from the next band playing after them). In the 70's and 80's, the crowds would have pelted them with everything and anything they could get their hands on, but today the mindless people there thought it was be "BEST" music they ever heard. I just don't get it!

This describes the music of the 70s more than any other era IMO.

Coachella looked awful. I have zero desire to go there or anything similar.

As for new music, I'm all about the electronic stuff and Soundcloud never fails for that.

Today's "pop music" gets a bad rap by anyone over 25. I personally enjoy it as much as I did when I was a teen (of course I'm forced to listen to "Hits 1" on Sirius non-stop with my boys).

Top 10 Songs in America Right Now (according to Billlboard.com):

10. Natalie La Rose Ft. Jerimih - "Somebody" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zqdo_Umd5c) My grade: B+

Why forced? My wife listens to all these, but I don't go out of my way to find them. Some are pretty catchy though.

Kinda impressed that I havent heard of any of them!

Couple years ago I found myself wanting to start listening to some current music and found that much of it was just plain shit and really got into country music. Now it is that or classic rock. Now..country music today is far from its roots and more rock but I really started to get into it.

Gotcha. Ten or so years ago I listened to it more often. It also depends what crowd I'm hanging out with too. Still fun to head bang, get angry and let off some steam on occasion.

I know someone said they couldn't find any current music and then got more into country.

You need to checkout Sturgill Simpson its country alternative and pretty awesome. The only country I listen to normally is Zac Brown Band.

It's a down year for music festivals not a lot of people are touring this year. As far as Coachella goes it was a weak lineup but there were a few solid gems in the lineup. I usually go to Bonnaroo every year but this year were Doing Firefly instead to see Paul McCartney again. Bonnaroo has a really down year lineup wise but if the Superjam is going to be the new basement tapes as I suspect that set alone could make it worth the price of admission. Im als doing Friday and Saturday an Bunbury.

For local concerts in Columbus I've got tickets for both nights of My Morning Jacket and that's it so far. I usually go to 15-20 local shows a year but no one I really want to see is touring Columbus this summer.
