You don't have to walk that far in order to get your dog to shit.

You still have to pick it up either way. I spent a total of 1/2 hour cleaning it up last weekend. Well worth not having to go out in the cold multiple times per day in the winter. I have 4 acres, why would I walk my dog to an area to shit in?
