You would basically be placing top 10. I think the Big10 tourny did it last year for the weights that allocated 9 to the NCAA and in a 16 man bracket format, the 4 losers of that 2nd rd conso would go to a mini bracket where the winners wrestle for 9th and the losers are done. If done right there is a way to prevent 5 matches for this but I would think so long as rd 1 of consos are wrestled on Friday night the guys who wrestle for the 9th place match shouldn't have issues with the 5 match rule.

For D2 and D3, it does get complicated because it involves other regional districts like the east and southeast. So, combining them would make it difficult in who goes where which district gets split up, heaven forbid there is divisional movement that can throw the numbers off! The talk of combining those divisions was simply a talking point and for me something constructive to do during the day to break down those numbers like that.

We all know what I suggested won't happen, the roster numbers would have to dramatically decrease or teams from D1 drop to D2 and no D2 move up forcing D1 to have to consolidate down to 2 sectionals. Then if that were to happen they'll probably have to go back to the old format of combining with another district also. But, to the original topic, it would be very doable for the current system to combine to 2 sectionals and still get the best kids to move on.
Not sure why you think going to two divisions in D2 & D3 would be difficult. I guess the first step would be to acknowledge that despite what OHSAA says, we are actually running regional tournaments now anyway. D2 & D3 combine with the East and D1 combines with the East/Southeast. So what if the "districts" combine to a regional tournament, we are doing that now anyway.

Let's face it. The sectional and district brackets have become so watered down that something needs to be done. Two kids at 113 at Barnesville only magnifies the need for change. Eight man brackets at most sectionals really does little to separate the field for district completion. Just my thoughts from a PA native where they have only had two divisions for decades and even they are beginning to see signs of a shrinking field.

I would say place 10 in each weight and the 9th and 10th would be alternates for the district tournament. That way each sectional would have 2 alts in each weight class that could fill in if someone doesn't make it. I'm not a fan of the one day sectional tournament even more so with our new changes I think we should have a two day sectional. That would help set kids up for success having that extra day to regroup and make their run.

I liked the 2 sectionals better than 4. Now anyone can be a district qualifier. So for now on im calling myself a 4 time district qualifier under the new format of 4 sectionals.

I think the Fairgrounds could be an option!! $3,300 a day would be cheaper than what St johns or the Schott would offer.

That's actually not a bad idea.

Or maybe we could at least have all three Central District Districts in one place like St. John's. Vets memorial would have been great but it's gone lol
