Well that does not make me happy but I suppose it is "good economically". Riders better get ready because there will be an entire conference that wants to pound you down to size.

Not much going on in tiger town...turning coaches over like stones in a creek and can't win a title even after dropping a division...I would be bored too!! Seriously...who is Devoe Torrence?
When the divisions were restructured, Massillon did drop a division. In their 2 years in D2, Massillon is an unimpressive 15-8.

However....

At the same time, Orrville dropped a division also....they are 6-14 in their new digs.

I would say you're correct, back in the day, a lot of those teams remember Mo pulling some shady things and with Orrville being a shadow of their former selves, your new friends will probably look to make up for all the antics.

If comparing your lack of production and wins vs Orrvilles lack of production and wins makes you feel better about the current state of the Massillon program then take all the jabs you need to take. You are the superior program....

You're right, we are.

Arent YOU the one who concerned yourself with Massillons program? Don't go crying like a school girl when it gets turned around on you.

If you're going to talk about the state of our program, your program should probably be better than 3-7.

Skank's only here because its quiet on the Danny front. Never heard of D. Torrance either. Had to google it. Skibo thing had to be 20 years ago, that's stretching it. Still no State Championship. Tell me the transfers to Orrville in the last 20 years that weren't from Wooster (who we trade players back and forth freely depending on housing). Couldn't be more than four. Silence! or come up with the names. I can start a thread about transfers to Orrville and transfers to Massillon and see which list is longer, and then you can defend your list and I'll defend ours.

This surely means an end to the season finale Wooster-Orrville game, right?

It makes no sense anymore. Wooster will only have three non-conference games. Why spend one on a school with such size disparity? Orrville's leaving the OCC because it's the smallest school in the conference, while Wooster has the largest boys enrollment. So it makes zero sense for those two schools to continue playing...otherwise, just stay in the OCC. It was fun while it lasted, but it just makes no sense. Wooster could literally lose a crack at the playoffs by voluntarily playing a school Orrville's size instead of a Wadsworth, Green, or Highland.

Have a big blow out for next year being the last game, and then maybe you schedule each other every five years or something...but every year makes no sense. And in truth, the rivalry is lost on younger kids. Ashland is viewed as a bigger rival by most of the kids simply because there's more parity.

I agree. As much as I would like to see the game be played...it really makes no sense anymore. And you are right, the rivalry has been lost in a sense. I think Orrville kids look at Triway as their true rival....heck, I did and I played in the mid-90's. If it works out and we continue to play then great...but if not...oh well!

CCRolly! I honestly LOL at a few of those posts! Well played.

I just hope this move is the beginning of something to put this train back on the tracks. I had no idea we would still be the smallest school in the conference? I mean I heard people say we were but when I saw the numbers in the article it really surprised me. ANYWAYS, sad to see the rivalry game with Wooster having the potential to end. But we will still have Triway. Good luck Riders!

Maybe out of nostalgia play it every five years, or something.. But you're right. Orrville kids see Triway as their rivals, and Wooster kids see Ashland. That's probably fitting given their sizes. It's never going to be the same as it was in decades past. And if it's a non-conference game, it'll get played in August. What's the point of that?

It really needs to be about what's best for the kids, not what's best for the class of 1975 graduates. For better or worse, times have changed pretty drastically.

It seems you guys are pretty content with just doing away with a long time rivalry. Why?

Things could work out, I know when McKinley joined the federal league it was worked out that they could keep Massillon in the week 10 spot.

Wooster & orrville isn't exactly Massillon vs McKinley but isn't it a top 5 rivalry in the state?

Massillon/McKinley is also D2 vs. D1. Wooster/Orrville has become D2/D5. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense computer point wise to plan a D5 school at this time.

I agree with you on this. But many want to pack it in...according to some on here our true Rival is Triway??? Really? Oldrider you are better than that I don't remember a bon fire or parade for Triway. Maybe I missed it.

The parade and bon fire are a waste of time IMO. Have you been to one of those lately? Its a joke....there are as many fire fighters there as fans!! As far as Triway...I always enjoyed beating them WAY more than any win over Wooster. I would have to say the same about West Holmes...enjoyed a win over them more than Wooster as well!
