I working on a computer for a friend, and I just can't figure it out. I'm getting the dreaded Unknown Device Code 43 for the USB ports. I have tried many fixes, including:

-Disable/Enable USB
-Uninstall/Re-Install USB
-Update Drivers
-Clean Registry
-Run Virus Scan
-Cycle power
-Manual registry changes

Anyone have any idea? I've put about 10 hours into this, and nothing is working. It's an HP Pavilian G7 running Windows 7 64-bit.

Has the usb controller stopped working? Have you tried to boot into a linux live disc and tried out the USB ports? This is why I usually just restore the computer to a factory image.

The problem is it has some very expensive software on it that has installation limits. It's a work computer for a t-shirt business. I've tried everything though, so it may be a situation where windows needs to be re-installed.

That is why I said to use something like an Ubuntu install disc and boot from the disc. It won't touch anything on the hard disc but you can check the USB ports.
