With a five-point lead with under 30 seconds to play, Sidney Lowe's club found a new way to lose. After Florida got the game within three with under 10 seconds left and had a chance for the tie, Lowe decided to implement the foul-first formula to stop the Gators from taking a game-tying three. The philosophy worked two straight trips down the floor, and NC State went up two again using this method with 2.5 left. But then decided to give Florida a wide open miracle look.

Florida's Chandler Parsons then hit a 70-footer.

Great game. Final was 62-61 in OT.

When is Sid going to be let go?? Unless something like a miracle happens, I would say at the end of the year??

The look on his face was straight out of a horror film.

I almost feel bad for him.

Lowe actually played it right IMO. On two possessions, he didn't let Florida attempt a 3-pointer. Most coaches don't foul there and it often burns teams. NCSU did blow the game at the foul line, had they just made 1 more FT, they would have gotten to another OT. Great shot by Chandler though. Two bubble teams, this was actually a big win for the Gators.

No, I agree, Az. His ploy worked to perfection until the miracle. When originally writing up my first post, I for some reason wasn't thinking that NC State missed that last free throw, even though I saw it miss.

My whole point about Lowe finding another way to lose didn't have anything to do with his play calling/end-game tactics. It's just that he's been losing so much as of late, that a 70-footer at the buzzer was a new and fresh route of seeing that happen.

This would have been a nice win for State, especially in terms of confidence. I could see this taking the Pack into an absolute tailspin now. Unfortunate.

Wolfpack snatch defeat from the jaws of victory AGAIN. I feel sorry for their fanbase, they need a winner. Julius Hodge wouldn't have let that kind of ending happen on his watch.

As for Lowe, this is kind of a development year. State has a great recruiting class coming in and they have a shot at CJ Leslie still. Sidney isn't going anywhere.

I will note, however, that most of the time, it is Lowe's play calling/end game tactics that cause NC State most of their games.

In this one, though, free throw shooting turned out to be the killer.
