Going skiing next Saturday with a big group of friends and family. Curious what is around the area to eat? I've never been up there so know nothing about the area. Thanks.

I hate you guys.

I did think about the lodge, but since I've never been there. Didn't know how it was.

They have pretty good burgers, dogs, fries, soups etc in the Lodge. Two decent bars.

The lodge is great for drinks and entertainment. Food is par, high scale cafeteria food.

Bellefontaine is 5 minutes away.

Best food: Don's Downtown Diner (great burgers) and 600 downtown (brick oven pizza). Both are downtown.

Are you entered in the cardboard sled races?

I'll probably be there too.

MR is my old stomping grounds! As shitty as it is...I kinda miss it. That park is awesome and from what I've heard this year they made some serious upgrades to it.

Anyway yeah...the lodge food is decent.

^ This. The place used to be a yahoo festival on New Years eve when the previous owners still ran the hotel on premises. Everything I've heard they've made a lot of upgrades but I've not been up there for a few years.

Some reason I am not a fan of the 600. The garlic knots are good, but just never impressed by the pizza for whatever reason. Did that new place open that was in the old WIngers location?

Chops and Hops. No. It's not open yet.

I disagree, 600 is great pizza.

I spent most my HS years out at MRM and up until a few years ago I usually got out there to ski a couple times a week. Didn't spend too much time in the lodge. After skiing, we would just go in for a beer. That's about it.

The guy who is opening Chops.....he owns another local place I think that is pretty good.
Maybe it is because the people I go with get some of the crazy pizza's they offer instead of the traditional, but I am usually okay with filling up on the Knots...

Doesnt he have some other restuarants?
Just looked it up. Apparently he will own the building but another family, who own Woody's in INdian Lake, will own and operate the restaurant.
Woody's in Wapak was very, very good. The one in Indian Lake was nicer, as its a new place, but just didnt think the food matched the first location and I Have been to both at least 6 times each I would say. Think they sold the Wapak location though......

There is a Tumbleweed as well, but the couple of times I was there it wasnt that good.

There was a bar b que place that was down town (think maybe another location near the theatre?). Went once when it was just opening. It was OK. I thought the menu was odd though...it stated that if a former drug addict and something else bad, forget, can get straightened out and open/own a restaurant then anyone can. Just seemed......Odd.

Where do you live? You sound like you're way too close to me....

Jason doesn't own Chops and Hops, just the building. The guy who runs Woody's in Russells Point is the one who is running Chops and Hops.

2G/gs. It's not that good. They moved from their location out by the theater over to the downtown location a few years back. Great people, but the food is average at best.

The best BBQ in town is actually a little shop in the former Center City Mall (now Main Street Marketplace) - Tonya's Deli. They are only open for lunch though. Don's has great ribs on Saturday nights.

Makes sense. It seemed like it had just opened so didnt want to slam it. It was ok..just was a bit....odd.

Any reason why they sold the Wapak Woody's?
