Have a link for that fact? They reached for haden, plain and simple. Earl thomas would have made more sense. We got a "shut down" corner who ran a 4.59 40 at the combine with the 7th pick overall. Think about that.
Here's from the OBR...probably the best and most reliable Browns site:

Browns Play It Safe
The Cleveland Browns wound up coming full circle back to CB Joe Haden despite the trade for Sheldon Brown earlier in the off-season. The Browns were attempting to deal out of the pick, but ultimately came back to a very safe selection in the Florida defensive back. Browns fans will instantly question this with C.J. Spiller and Earl Thomas on the board.
Now the Browns will get back on the phone. The Browns will continue to try to move around and grab the players they want. It's now out into the mainstream media that the next player they may really want could be QB Colt McCoy.
Oh and Haden later ran much better 40 times (which you conveniently ignore). Besides, if you watched him play at all this year, you saw him be an outstanding secondary player in a very strong conference. He's a football player, period. Too much crying about 40 times, if you ask me. Trust your eyes.
