Below is a blurb from ESPN Insider about Gocong to the Browns. It was probably mentioned earlier but what might we be trading to get him?
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Chris Gocong was a restricted free agent, but he has signed his one-year tender with the team. This means that he is now available in trade, and it looks like he could be headed to the Cleveland Browns, per a report from National Football Post.

According to what a source has told Aaron Wilson of NFP, there is no imminent deal, but a trade will continue to be discussed all the way up to the draft. As we know, former Eagles GM Tom Heckert now holds the same position with the Browns.

Any latest new on McCoy's workout today? He along with other Texas players were working out for UT's pro day today. Holmgren and Mangini were in the house

According to a poster on the OBR, Todd McShay said that Earl Thomas ran a 4.35 at his Pro Day.

McShay said on ESPN just now that McCoy helped himself in the sense that he proved his arm was okay. He didn't help himself remarkably (i.e. Moving up to the 1st Round), but he certainly didn't hurt himself. He struggled with the intermediate routes, but looked good throwing the ball deep, and on the short routes. Sounds like a West Coast offense guy to me. They also said that the Rams are having him in for a private workout.

With the time that Earl Thomas ran, if Berry is off the board, we trade down and draft Thomas. Gives us more picks potentially and the 2nd Best Safety in the draft in my opinion. Mays is going to be good, but Thomas has all the potential in the world.

Yea I heard about Thomas's 40 time...that is really good! I wouldn't have a problem trading down to get him if Berry/Haden or whoever else CLE likes at #7. And the chance to pick up another draft spot wouldn't be bad. I do have a feeling that the Browns are going to try and trade up in the early 2nd late 1st to get McCoy...

I hated McCoy in college for some reason. People talk about how much they hate Clausen, but I hated McCoy. However, I'd love to see him in a Brown's uniform. The kid knows how to win, and is by far (in my opinion anyway) the most accurate QB in the draft. I don't like the fact that the Rams are bringing him in, but I think it's just to cover their asses if they decide to take Suh #1. Bradford is not going to be a Brown, I just don't see it. I'm not sold on Clausen, he has "Quinn" written all over him, and McCoy just fits what WE need the best. Sit behind Delhomme for a couple years, and hand the reigns over to him. I'm getting excited!

I am not a Tebow fan mainly because ESPN and other networks kept force feeding him down our throats, but the guy is a winner. I think he will contribute somehow, especially if he gets a chance to hold a clipboard and learn the NFL game for a couple of years.

I agree. If he gets thrown into the fire too quickly I think it would be a disaster but if Holmgren could mold him for a couple of years I think he could be good. Still think they are going to move on Colt McCoy although your boy Roda said "Lefevour" tonight.

Let's get something straight...I went to college with him and Matt Underwood but I was never in one of their "frats." Something about rolling around wrestling naked in a blowup swimming pool covered in baby oil for initiation never appealed to me. Not a fan of frats.

I know his stock has dropped off but I still think Taylor Mays is going to be a great player and would be great for the Browns. It would be nice to have an "enforcer" roaming in the Browns secondary ready to make the big hit on unsuspecting receivers.

If it was not for Tebow, Mays would be the most overrated player in the draft. Looks good on paper, but he always seemed out of place on the field.

I'll pass on Mays. He seems like he got by in college on pure athleticism, but he won't be able to do that in the pros. He needs to be more fundamentally sound and stay in position better.

Wouldn't mind seeing Cleveland take a 7th round pick on Fendi Onobun, Tight End from Houston. While he barely has any football experience and only caught 2 passes last year and has played basketball for 4 years, I can see him being a great project since he's 6'6 252 lbs and ran a 4.45 40. The kids an athlete.

If we take a TE prospect my vote goes to Jameson Konz from Kent State.
Kent State TE/FB Jameson Konz put on a "freakish" display at the Golden Flashes' pro day earlier this month.
A possible H-back in the NFL, Konz posted a ridiculous 46-inch vertical and was timed at 4.38 and 4.46 in the forty. His broad jump of just over 10'8" would have been a full three inches more than any tight end at the Combine. A converted linebacker, Konz had just 21 catches in his first year on offense in 2009
Also saw on Mount Union's twitter feed that last years QB Kurt Rocco is gaining interest from the Browns and Saints.

When Paul Brown ran the Browns, the organization did a LOT of scouting in the region, which is why you found a lot of Ohio guys on those early teams, including those from Ohio State and even some smaller schools.

We need to get back to that.

Since the return, I've complained bitterly about how ineffective the franchise has been at scouting its own back yard (OSU, BG, Toledo, Kent, Akron, Mt. Union, etc.)

There have been more than a few gems discovered during that time, and only one has ended up with the Browns (Cribbs).

I want to see a better job of looking through those players and finding the ones who can be solid, productive players.

Along with giving you players that cost much less all around, it also helps to strengthen the link between the team and the communities in Ohio outside of Cleveland.

Another HUGE complaint of mine is the piss poor job of marketing this team outside of Cuyahoga County that the Browns do...but that's fodder for a whole 'nother topic. :)
