That doesn't mean we don't go get one or two serviceable qb's for a season or two. Anderson/Quinn both are inept. Cut 'em both...

Here's the link showing Heckert withdrew his name the DAY Mangini was hired. So IMO if Heckert and Holmgren come to terms this afternoon, Mangini will be shown the door immediately...

Not the most reliable source, but its a good read...It does sound like Heckert has an excellent history in the draft...

WKNR has also reported that Heckert withdrew his name when Mangini was hired. This could be because they don't like each other or because Mangini took the job with the condition he could bring former friend Kokinis in.

I think it all depends as to what capacity he has. And of course the Ben Franklins$$$$. I want the guy just for his evaluating of talent and drafting skills. His past drafts w/ the Eagles have been phenomemal.

There is insider speculation on the Browns board I frequent that Heckert may be coming in as something a bit higher than a GM; perhaps a vice president of operations. Not sure how this would break out as far as responsibilities, but it's an interesting idea.

It also means there could be a GM yet to be hired below Heckert, or they could incorporate those duties.

Any rumor as to why Josh Cribbs would tweet this: "I don't believe I made the to do list for 2010". The tweet before he said it doesn't look good for him playing for Cleveland again.

That's the only way I am looking at it.

Cleveland will pay him a nice raise but if he is asking for absurd money than I'd have to think it over also.

Unless we trade him, he's stuck in his shitty ass contract for 3 more years. So unless he's gonna hold out, which is likely, he's screwed. Obviously Holmgren wants to keep him, but if Cribbs is asking for money a top tier WR would get, then I wouldnt blame the Browns for trading him. I know the guy plays hiss ass off for Ctown and w/o him we would not have won a couple games but come on...how much is a return man really worth?? He has very below average skills at doing anything else on the offense. I'd say he could be had for an early 1st and 3rd draftpick???

Ouch...if thats the case, that is a little disrespectful. I think he's making around 1.25 this past year. They probably made that lowball offer to him, due to the fact he's asking for 6mil when in all fairness they will probably land somewhere in the 3-4mil per year.

I saw a link that said they offered him 1.4. And that Cribbs is looking for about double that.

Yeah, I think he deserves Roscoe Parrish money which is a little under 3.5. I am not sure he deserves a contract like Devin Hester, but to be honest, Devin Hester doesn't deserve that contract.

Heckert is a great talent evaluator. I'd really love to see him in Cleveland because that would get rid of Mangini, and give us a guy that knows how to draft.

I also like this because, unlike Savage, he's a great businessman, and talent evaluator. He knows how to build that rapport with a team and the management.

Savage was strictly a talent evaluator that couldn't handle the roles of a GM.
