That would be a solid pick up. Familiar with Ryan's defense

Sure there are some needs, but its clear the problem with the Browns is a dismal offense. Brady and DA are both jokes, we have no premier WR's, no TE, and no depth at RB. Our O-line is okay, on one side, and terrible on the other.

I'm no expert on football, but it seems every year Browns fans preach this "use all the picks for defense" when its clear that its our offense that is the problem.

And seriously, Cribbs getting near 6 million a year? LOL
Cleveland had the #32 offense and #31 defense. Yes the defense was that bad.

If you are a crappy team like Cleveland located in a division where defense has shown to win games, you build your defense 1st.

The Steelers and Ravens have proven that a nasty defense will take you places behind an okay offense.
actually it was the steelers offense that won games and championships for then not their defense. the steelers had a good ground attack and would win the time of possesion battle big time. the steelers defense was normally parked on the bench for 40 plus minutes a game. i seen the steelers hold the ball for 8 minutes on one possession and not even score. the browns need to focus on thier running game and be a physical football team. if you didnt notice the browns running game finished the year strong. and the defense started playing better at the same point.
If you didn't notice, we played a bunch of shitty teams at the end of the year.

Defense wins championships, end of story. You cannot win against the Steelers, Ravens, and now Cincy (who improved their defense a lot) with the guys we have overall on the defensive side. We have the coaching over there but now we need the athletes.
werent the steelers one of the teams the browns defeated late last season with that bad defense the browns threw out there?

Yeah but they still finished 5-11 and in last place. Every other team in the division had a winning record and was at least four games ahead.

Hey, asshole...the only teams that have SIGNED free agents are those that OVERPAID. The Browns have 3 free agents in town TODAY (Fujita-met yesterday and stayed overnight, Pashos and a 3rd, unidentified FA). As I've been stating ALL ALONG, the Browns are working the TRADE avenue and this shit doesn't happen overnight.

Seems like you're more impatient that we haven't signed any FA's than Browns fans. Closet Browns fan OR you just haven't come out of the closet, period?

Free agency, for most, is going slow for everybody except those who GROSSLY overpaid (Chicago, Detroit, Miami for Dansby).

Things will pick up now that most of the OVERPAID FA's have signed.

BTW....the David Carr rumors are bogus, thank God. Just his agent trying to drum up a market for him.

I can't see picking up a veteran QB just to have one.

Guys like Carr and Delhomme stink and would just be making the situation worse.

True. If he does trade it's going to either be for an established veteran or an up-n-coming young veteran that they feel they can mold.

Have also been told, as the market thins, the Browns may take a look see at Terrell Owens on the cheap.

I may be in the minority, but if T.O. can come cheap, I'm all for it.

Any more news on McNabb?

Id take TO for cheap too. If he starts acting up we have a veteran leader in Brady Quinn to put him in his place.

Should know more on McNabb by days' end. I believe that Andy Reid wants this over and done with by today, one way or the other. Unless it's just posturing, I'm skeptical that McNabb is leaving Philly. The front office & fans want McNabb gone but Reid, who has the power, wants him to stay. Who do you think wins?

Latest rumor via tweet.....Shaun Rogers to Buffalo for Donte Whitner AND Ashton Youboty. I imagine the Browns would have to sweeten the deal.

Incorrect. He may still sign with them but reports came out immediately following KFFL's report refuting that. He's in Cleveland now.

As always, Pluto is spot on.

Trading Rogers doesn't hurt this team as bad as some might think. Rubin filled in very well for Rogers after his injury. He is a solid, dependable nose tackle. And Rogers should bring good value via trade.

Obviously, the Browns have some very specific needs -- but I can't say I'm surprised by the lack of activity by the team so far in free agency.

If you looked at the list of available UFA for this "season" it was pretty clear that pickings were very slim. You would have to overpay for what you were getting (look at what Detroit has done so far) and this regime isn't going to do that.

I do expect there to be a few pretty big trades yet to come -- including one for a QB.

^^^^I would say there overpaying as well. Nate Burleson to Detroit for $25 mill was horrible, especially with 11 mill guaranteed. I am glad to be sitting back in the passenger seat just working the trade scenarios hard and preparing for the draft which is the obvious way to build a franchise.

If its anything more than Roger straight up, I would NOT do this. Youboty is a guy that may not even make our team although we could use his depth and Whitner is nothing spectatacular. I hope this is someone just in lala land making up these rumors. Also find it kinda odd both players are from Ohio State. Just because there from the area does not mean they belong in Cleveland ala TROY SMITH...no thanks! I would not trade him to Buffalo unless it involved someone along the lines of Terrence McGee.

Not likely. Smith's agent has been hounding the Browns because he WANTS to play here but the Browns have no interest.
