I have heard a lot of people throwing out the name "Jake Locker" regarding the Browns but frankly I don't think the Browns will even be in a position to draft him. I don't think the Browns will be picking in the top 10 in 2011.

Unless Locker improves a LOT between now and the draft, I want no part of him. He's another strong arm with bricks for brains (Derek Anderson Part II) except he can also run.

I have never been one of those guys so enamored with the big arm that he wants to take a chance on a QB, even if he hasn't really accomplished much. I"d rather have the guy with the "average" arm who has clearly shown an ability to check down and make good decisions. And yes, I'd rather have both but you rarely see the strong armed guy who seems to have great QB instincts. Very rare. Usually the strong arm guys think there isn't a throw they can't make so they take more risks.

What makes you think Locker has "bricks for brains?"

I've seen him play several times and watched him try and force throws. He didn't seem to have mastered the ability to check down, but would rely on arm strength alone or his feet to escape. Can he prove me dead wrong in the next year? Yep. But so far, I haven't seen signs that he's a cerebral QB.

Right now the Browns offense looks pretty good but the defense is an abortion. I think the offense has made improvements by leaps & bounds but I don't think by enough to win 38-37 shootouts. This defense REALLY concerns me.

^ I agree. I am just trying to figure out why the defense looks worse than last year and how that is possible. It doesn't make sense. Is Rex Ryan not running the defense as he normally would in the regular season? Calling more blitzes ect? Also with all this blitzing, no one is getting to the QB which is very concerning.

The excuse that I've heard for the defense is "no Shaun Rogers" but that is BS because the D played better without him down the stretch.

What concerns me is that there is NO pass rush. They have blitzed even though I'm sure Ryan hasn't shown his full array of blitz schemes.

Another concern is our inability to cover tight ends. Our LB's are too big & slow and our safeties (TJ Ward is still a work in progress, IMO) blow goats.

It's one thing for the Lions to put together a long, sustained drive and then score on that first drive but they went through that defense like a hot knife through butter...THREE plays.

In the coming offseason they may have to completely revamp the linebacking corps, draft another safety and a new RT is also a GLARING need.

I agree about a RT being a need. We have to be happy about Shaun Lauvao so far. Glad to see a third round lineman coming in as a starter already. Much better than past regime's and their mid-late round drafting of linemen.

Lauvao was one of my "sleepers" in this draft. After doing some research I fully expected him to be the starter.

Yes. You can see he is getting some of it and will work out in the future, but I expect teams to throw against Cleveland alot.

That being said, it appears the strength of the team will be ball control running and short passing game. Maybe eat clock to avoid shootouts.

I've got a question..what is going on with the running backs? Is Montario going to be healthy for the opener? Are these fumbles of Harrison going to be costing him time? Are they going to say fuck them both and put in Hillis?

Unless The Ghost cures his fumbleitis pretty quickly, I expect to see Hillis as the starter until Hardesty gets up to speed.

He better cure it and cure it fast. Thats the fastest way to lose your starting role on a football team. I would rather see James Davis start over Hillis. I like James Davis and didn't like the Hardesty pick at the time. I still think we gave up too much to draft him and thought it was an unnecessary pick.

I still think Harrison starts, at least until Hardesty gets caught up. Hillis will be a change of pace/power back.

LOL...Steeler fans are gonna LOVE this. No suspension for Shaun Rogers which probably means none for Robaire Smith either...

Think God he wasn't suspended. Cleveland just might of had someone that could actually play the position.

Lets see here:
Fat boy carries a loaded gun into an airport (federal offense) and gets no suspension.
Benson cheapshots a guy a third his size at a night club and gets no suspension.
Vince Young knocks a lady down and punches a guy in a night club at 2am and gets no suspension.(caught on tape)
This Robaire Smith guy,I never heard of so who cares.
Big Ben gets 6 game suspension for being a white alpha male. Looks to me like Goodell is tired of the Steelers winning all the time.
