I agree with you. Sounds like Meyer even agrees with you, but he said it's not like the old days where you get to argue the doctors. If they rule him out, he's out.

To play devil's advocate that's sort of a self-serving statement; saying he has the ability to disagree with the doctors would make it look like they're forcing the kid out.

He was out for a period of time, not permanently! He would have been ready for fall camp of his FRESHMAN year.

We don't know the long-term impact of the injury. Why take the risk on the kid when there are others who have the same potential without the injury baggage?

Really OSU is just looking out for the kid in the long term. $10 says this kid will go elsewhere and end up getting seriously injured and never finish his degree. At least at OSU he will get a quality education and have his health for the long term. I get that he's mad, but sometimes at that age you are dumb as rocks and don't understand what you are getting into. This isn't the SEC where they milk every last ounce out of an athlete until they are hurt AND THEN cut them; OSU is just being honest up front and offering the benefits without the burden of playing football.

I think the fact that it IS HIS FRESHMAN YEAR, tells you that this isn't a case of trying to cut someone out for numbers. If he were a junior, or even a sophomore then I would side with that argument. But I'm sure they'd rather lose a older kid who's not getting better than a kid who they haven't even gotten their hands on yet.

Plus the kid is free to go anywhere he wants so it's not like he has to quit football because the osu doctors wouldn't clear him.

I understand the look bad aspect of this but Meyer didn't even avoid the questions today, so he clearly feels they did what they were supposed to do.

Because you offered the kid a scholarship to play football at your school. Again, just playing devil's advocate bc I'm OK with Meyer's actions; we offered to pay for his education anyways.

1,000% agree with this. But my gut tells me there's some pressure from Meyer and/or if Meyer truly wanted this kid he could get the doctors to pass him.

If Dr. James Andrews is saying the kid is okay, then what in the world are these tOSU doctors looking at?!

? They were at 88. They need to get down to 85. They're now at 87. I'm not sure I follow your logic.

Meyer just had his contract extended to 2020; making him the highest paid Big Ten coach at $6.5M a year. That is a $1.6M per year increase.

Still vastly underpaid in my opinion. He's still makes a half million less than Nick Saban, a coach he just blew out 3 months ago.

If they were forcing a kid out to make the numbers, they would more than likely force out a "known" talent, or lack there of, rather than a kid who's yet to lace them up and show what he has.

Absolutely no reason why Meyer shouldn't be the highest paid football coach in the Big Ten.
