Serious question: Why are people who go to church afraid of death? If they die, don't they all go to heaven to be with their god anyway? If they die, isn't it just a part of god's plan?

Who says that people who go to church are afraid to die? Protecting your congregation from the crazies of the world does not indicate that people of that church are fearful of death. I go to church...certainly not afraid to die!

Why do they need protection? If the crazies come, its part of god's plan that the deceased go to heaven now. Who are you to disrupt god's plan?

Self-defense "protecting oneself from injury at the hand of others." Self-defense is not about taking vengeance, is not about punishing criminals. Self-defense involves preserving one's own health and life when it is threatened by the actions of others. Using weapons to protect ourselves and others, even if the weapons used could kill the attacker.
As a Christian I have a Biblical obligation to preserve life. The Bible teaches that Christians must preserve life--our own lives and the lives of other people.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (simply) we are to take care of our body
Psalm 82:4 Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. (simply) Christians obligation to protect those who are in danger:
Proverbs 24:11 (simply) Christians have a duty to preserve the lives of those who are harming themselves:
Ezekiel 33 (simply) As a Christian I fail to guard the lives of others, protect them or warning them of danger I’m wrong
Ezekiel 33 "... 6 'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.'
Deuteronomy 22:8 and Exodus 21:29-31 (simply) Christian must protect their life and the lives of others.
As a Christian I’m obligation to protect my life and the lives of other is very clear. In the Bible it is also clear that Christians should possess weapons to protect themselves, guard against those who will wrongfully kill Gensis 9:5-9
Go ahead and use the Ten Commandments.
Exodus 20:13 You shall not kill. (simply) murder
This Commandment is better qualified in Leviticus 24:16-17 Exodus 21:12-15, Numbers 35:6-34, and Deuteronomy 19:1-13, Exodus 22:2-3, Esther 8-9 as meaning … murder
No where in the Bible are Believer to surrender to violence, killing or religions murder

The only plan I have is to be a Beliver in Christ, work hard to be a better Christian, read the Bible, provide for my family, prosper and pray. Its not for me to question God. Those of us who are Christians knows the Plan and the end.

Hope this helps

Check God's commandments. Thou shall not murder. Also your definition of crazies is rather loose considering anyone that attends church is probably crazy(or stupid).

I didn't read this, but who are you to interrupt god's plan? If god wants you dead, he will find a way to make you dead. Now why an all powerful god has to send dirty muslims to do his dirty work is beyond me.

I know of no definition of murder that includes self defense.
As far as crazies go, I was going on the assumption that the crazies you were referring to were/are violent...there would be no need to have to kill non violent crazies, religious or not.
