His brother has a Super Bowl ring as a coach and he doesn't.

He is not going back to college until he either gets one or gets fired after a second try with a new team.

He's only 50 years old. He can do another 4-5 year stint with another team and settle into a college job to finish off his career kind of like Saban did when he went to Alabama.
All fair points, but UM fans would love him like they never would in OAK, no matter what he does. To people with ego's, that matters. Saturday's at UM in the fall are pretty special - that has to be a selling point.

Although I think you have a really good point about a SB ring. But there's no guarantee the UM job will be there in 5 years. But if his wife isn't thrilled with Michigan winters that may not matter.

Sean Payton currently makes 8m a year, same with Pete Carroll, I've got no doubt in my mind, he'll get 8.5m, from whomever Harbaugh wants to coach next year.

Yes I know those two have won a SB.

Wasn't calling your post out, just most recent that mentioned money :)

no problem...my post was meant to counter the "wife doesn't like cold weather so hubby Jim won't take job" comments, that's all

But will Harbaugh be able to recruit the kind of guys that Urban brings in? For the most part, the Big 10 has been the "big, slow, plodding farm boy league" until Meyer arrived. With the freakish athletes he's recruiting, he's turning it into the "SEC North." Harbaugh may bring "fire" to the Big 10 but I don't see him snagging a lot of the athletes that Urban gets.

Harbaugh is going to run his offense, not Urban's. I think they whole idea that a certain offense is all you can run because other teams do it is given too much weight. Any offense will work, it just needs executed. I bet you'd see Harbaugh and Meyer going after a lot of different kids.

Don't dispute that. Just saying that unless some of these other Big 10 teams start recruiting faster/more athletic kids, they are going to have a VERY hard time keeping up with the "Joneses." (Ohio State)

Harbough had no problem stopping Oregon with his style of play. I don't see him changing his style at all.

But I don't think it's the system as much as it is a damn good coaching staff.

"...Harbaugh’s father Jack and agent Dunn have been in contact with the Michigan athletic department since early November ..."

"...Over 50 former Harbaugh teammates from Michigan have reached out to him asking him to take the Michigan job. Additionally, Wolverine legends Desmond Howard, Jamies Morris, Charles Woodson and the biggest name of the all, Tom Brady, have each contacted Jim telling him that the fate of the program rests with him and “Mama is calling, it’s time to come home”. ..."

This is everythign I have previously eluded to. It isn't a done deal though until it's a done deal.

Let me guess. If Harbaugh is announced as Michigan's coach, you are going to claim you predicated it months ago with some inside info?

O.k. Guess. I'll let you.

You can find the answer to that in my first post in this thread on that exact issue except for the fact it was also inclusive of Hoke, the AD, Harbaugh and Manuel.

LOL. Those are all things that everyone knew or guessed on. Hoke would be fired? Whew, you went out on a limb there! Same with Brandon. Manuel I could maybe give credit for, but his name was one of the first few that people threw out when a new AD was discussed.

I like Harbaugh, and would have to start hating him if he went to Michigan, but I hope he takes the job. However, I would be fairly surprised to see him go to Ann Arbor. My question is, what is the backup plan if Harbaugh declines or is it already a done deal. UM just gave up a recruiting year, so the hire better be a home run.

I can't find those prior to my post on this thread. Nor is there any discussion of the football alumni's influence and activity at the University early in the season regarding ridding the two and going after Harbaugh and Manuel.

If there is then that's great. Others have the same information and opinion. I do remember folks saying there was no way Harbaugh would consider it and come.

I'm not begrudging anyone who thought this would be the outcome. The reality is, however, the only certainty is that the two firings/resignations have occurred. I was clear early in the year that Hoke's would be at season's end and that the AD was going to happen but the timing was uncertain due to "discussions" with Manuel being in there infancy....which they still are. They haven't progressed.

It wasn't a prediction. It was information sharing.
