Once my Jeep Liberty dies, I'm leaning heavily toward a Subaru Crosstrek.

It's a six speed manual and they don't have a hatch/wagon this model year.Automatik;1686309 wrote:Nice ride, love the color and wheel combo. I'd take one in manual and a wagon.

She's still got quite a bit left in the tank. Besides, I want to pay cash.oberhaus;1686319 wrote:Come see me. I will help your Jeep die and help you get that Crosstrek.

What's the price different between that WRX and STi? I feel like for a few more grand why not go with the STi? Also, I agree with Auto, would rather the hatch than the sedan.oberhaus;1686321 wrote:It's a six speed manual and they don't have a hatch/wagon this model year.

This is a premium. It's 30,000. I haven't seen an STI under 37,000. Most come in around 40,000. So basically a base WRX for 27,000 to a basic STI at 36/37,000. Not worth it to me as a daily driver.Raw Dawgin' it;1686357 wrote:What's the price different between that WRX and STi? I feel like for a few more grand why not go with the STi? I've driven more than a few AWDs and without a doubt Subaru is the best AWD I've ever driven, and experts pretty much concur.Exactly. It's a Subaru. Hottest car company out there. Best All Wheel Drive system.
The cars have great resale value and are extremely durable. My parents have a few over the years and drive them 6 years before handing them off to my sister who drives them for another 6. I think Subaru has a commercial out like that...and it's absolutely true.
My only gripe with them is MPG, but that is a trade off with AWD cars. Mrs Hits' 1 year old Forester (small SUV) gets a disappointing 29 Highway and 24 overall. Contrast that to my full size FWD Accord with traction assist... 38 Highway and 32 overall).
I think the cars are reasonably priced and a high value....and solid in the ice and snow.

Let me know how your Subby does if we get more than half a foot of snow. I like Subaru's, no doubt. My brother has a Forester and it's easily the best car he's ever owned. That said......ground clearance means something.oberhaus;1686182 wrote:Exactly. It's a Subaru. Hottest car company out there. Best All Wheel Drive system.

Mine is obviously lower. It's a sports car. The Forester, Outback and Crosstrek all have 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Compare that to any other SUV and you'll see that it's probably better than the comparison.salto;1686374 wrote:Let me know how your Subby does if we get more than half a foot of snow. But I really didn't start this thread to be a Subaru commercial. I just wanted to show off my car a little.

Also - If your dealership ever gets any 2.5RS two door models in stock please let me know.
Another long term "toy" on the back burner. I wanna turn the 2.5RS into a 22B wanna-be.

Friend I agree. This being Ohio, December and sill mid-40's having ground clearance does not mean sh*t. (lol) I want snow!oberhaus;1686379 wrote:Mine is obviously lower. It's a sports car. I also think of all new models of cars being made in America, Subaru is towards the top*. My brothers Forester is 2008 (I think) whatever year was last on the Impreza platform. Non turbo but still darn spunky. Gotta like those boxer engines!
*I hope you put a cat back exhaust on yours!
*yea yea yea Subaru is a Japanese company but many are made in Indiana.

A cat back exhaust, IMO, is pointless if you don't switch out the cats to either high flow or totally remove them. Maryland doesn't have emissions testing so running straight pipes from the headers is legal .salto;1686386 wrote:Friend I agree. You better get a front license plate on that car. Just ask Zwick what happens if you don't.

See, I think that ride is ghetto enough to have limited resale value, but not ghetto enough for someone to want to steal for themselves.Raw Dawgin' it;1686412 wrote:I can't wait to call your plates in as "Stolen"

I get it. If you totally remove the cat I'm also assuming your "check engine" light is kicked on? I don't think its legal to run straight pipes in many states either. Change the muffler just to make the boxer engine sound better. Its plenty quick enough stock.Raw Dawgin' it;1686414 wrote:A cat back exhaust, IMO, is pointless if you don't switch out the cats to either high flow or totally remove them.
