No, I really wasn't. If they are going to play ball control/run offense and they don't have a reliable QB to get them the ball, they really don't need a receiving threat. Hartline, Bowe, etc will be solid possession guys who will move the chain. They don't need a guy who can run 9 routes until they have that QB in place. Erving can play ANY line position, and will be our starting RG this season. Grow up.
I'd be annoyed if thats what it was soley for, and it surely played a large part in the decision, but Erving is about a flexible as they come an an OL. He was recruited as DL, spent most of his career at tackle (All american), and played center the final 5 games last season. He played center so well, he was drafted at that position. No reason to believe he can't play just about anywhere and play it well (especially this season). So they're stocking up at a top 5 position bc they might lose their Pro Bowler at that position next year. First of all, he is an insurance policy IF Mack leaves (don't be like IQQY and say he is all but gone... we know how that turned out for him). With Mack we are looking at the best line in the league. Erving can play right beside him at guard.
