Retarded how? You have been one of the biggest "we NEED a QB.....we NEED a QB" guys on here. I think Farmer could be a solid GM but will he get a legit chance? Sure, he can fix the O-Line issues (right side) and add some impact on defense but where's the QB? Does anyone think, with the coming schedule, that the Browns will beat the competition playing "Rex Ryan ball?"

We are missing a QB yes. And I agree we aren't going anywhere until we find one. The trouble I find with your post is back in the day, we had a QB problem as well as about a dozen other problems., with each of those problems another few years of FA and drafting to get us there. This team needs a few pieces here and there. It's not like it has always been.

And give me a break on the QB's not being there this year. We haven't even had pro days, combines, etc. there could be a QB out there we've never even heard of. Let's wait until closer to the draft until we deem this QB class a disaster.

There's a difference is this year and the past. This year, they showed promise and it looked like they had a serviceable QB, for awhile. Then the bottom fell out. By the end of the season, the offense was beyond inept. And now it looks like they are worse off at the QB position than when they started 2014.

No shit we need a QB. We've always needed a QB. This year is no different then any other year in that regards. The difference is the team outside of the QB is a lot better this year. Yes, that means very little to us winning a super bowl. But in terms of optimism, I'm a lot more excited about "get me a QB and we are a playoff team" than "get me a QB, a coach, a competent front office, players around the QB, an offensive line, and an entire defense."

We have needed a QB since 1999. If the QB situation and next years schedule is what is making you go full on iggy then that is a huge fail. We have been looking for a QB for a long time now and now that we actually have talent at lot of positions you want to act doom and gloom? LOL. Again, please look at our draft classes from 2008 and 2009 (as well as our rosters/coaching staff) and tell me how you you were more optimistic during that time than you are now. The reality of the NFL is half the league is looking for their guy. Luckily we are in a better position than a lot of those teams.

Yes, I like the front office and coach but they are intertwined with the QB problem. The front office/coaching could be on the right path but if they don't get that QB and take a step back this year, it could sabotage the whole thing and they'd have to start over again. There's potential for optimism but I think there's a lot more for the "doom & gloom" aspect because of that lack of QB.

IF they get the QB this year, along with the pieces in place, YES everything would seem "optimistic." But if they don't, it's "blowup" time again and we're watching the same mess.

I don't know. I don't get it.

I get his pessimism about the QB position. We all do. EVERYONE understands were not going anywhere without a QB.

But he's saying he's less optimistic now than ever before. Which is what is baffling to me.

One way he could be more pessimistic now than 2008-2009 is because he's more worn down by the incompetency shown over the last 6 years and he's less optimistic in general about the team. That makes sense.

If browns invest in the lines, and get a QB that doesn't turn the ball over at an alarming rate, this team can compete for afc north championship. We don't need an Andrew luck to be competitive, we just need the anti failhomme, weeden, 2nd half hoyer, difler, etc...

We had a very real possibility of making the playoffs this year before Mack went down. With Brian Hoyer.
