No dummy, Browns have to stop the run and run the ball well to have any chance of a winning record. McCown is a fucking bum, and has proven incapable of even being a "game manager" (whatever that means). Find a successful team with a "game manager" at QB. The argument, all he has to do is not turn the ball over! is the same arguement/spin we hear every season.
Weeden: "Oh we'll he's 30 yrs old and the coaches will scheme the game so he just doesn't have to turn the ball over to win!"
McCoy: "He's got a noodle arm, but is accurate. All he has to do is move the chains and protect the football to win games!"
Delhomme: "He's a proven vet that will settle the QB room, and use his veteran smarts to not turn the ball over and give this team a chance to win!"
Dilfer: "SB winning QB that KNOWS how to not turn the ball over! Look at what he did on his SB run, he just had to not lose the game for you. He can do the same thing in Cleveland (Nevermind the fact that outside of that historic def and run to win the 2000 SB, he was a god fucking awful QB and was behind some asshat named Elvis). Protect the football and win some games!"
I could go on and on. Are you not seeing how you're falling into this same trap of nonsense that we spin every year? Bottom line, McCown sucks. If he's our QB we're prob going to be a shitty team unless we have a PWN def that stops the run, and rushes the passer, and dominant running game. We could very well have that this season, but any success we see will be in spite of McCown, who is terrible.
