No idea but probably. Even the uniform "rules" aren't enforced. I know NFL teams have exercised the option from time to time. Think that Jags chose to wear their whites at home vs the steelers so they would have to wear their blacks because of the heat.
In the SB the steelers chose the whites that one season after winning 3 road games to get to the SB.
Not really sure how much that actually matters nowadays with the technologies. Maybe mythbusters could figure it out...
