I know that others posted prior to this, but I wanted to reply. The coaches (and universities) put this rule in place to protect themselves from attorneys looking for a class action suit that would comprise the sport. The flaw in the rule they wrote is that the replay official in the booth is only allow to look to see if contact was made with the helmet, they can't take away the targeting, they can only state no helmet contact to take away the targeting. Unfortunate for the player that he put a shoulder into the defenders chest and the helmets also hit with a forceable impact.SportsAndLady;1683128 wrote:They need to change that rule. You can tell when it's malicious and they need to be ejected. Both plays were not malicious.
