Guess it doesn't matter, I think the right teams are in at the end.
Because blowing out a top 15 team and beating a top 10 team by double digits trumps a win over a 1 loss team by 50?

OSU played a tougher schedule and had more impressive wins, and won the conference championship game... all factors in who is better.
Been saying this for a week. Yes, the committee screwed up moving TCU to #3. And I'll guarantee there was no way they thought OSU would do what they did. They fully expected a close game, even an OSU loss without JT. OSU threw the committee for a big loop making them look a little silly for what they did last week. Lesson learned. But bottom line, the current 4 best teams are in. Now lets play.

No they didn't.

There is nothing that says they are champions. Their bylaws stipulate that the winner of a head to head(if 2 teams have the same conference records) gets the berth to the Sugar Bowl(or the NY6 game). Nothing is mentioned about being champions.
Tiebreaker Procedures
Effective June 2014

The following procedure will determine the Big 12 Conference representative to the Sugar Bowl (or alternate College Football Playoff game when the Sugar Bowl is a semifinal) in the event of a first-place or alternate place tie (for the avoidance of doubt, only Conference records will be used throughout the process):
If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
Nothing about champions.

The committee didn't really "screw up." It just shows you that the rankings starting 6 weeks out from selection Sunday mean...nothing. They are there to generate ratings and discussion. The relevance of the order of the rankings even just a week prior to the selections is null and void.

This is the only negative. The BCS was a formula. It was pretty easy to project because you just plug and chug numbers.

Ok, not a screw up. But they caused themselves some credibility and criticism because of what they did with TCU last week. If they had kept them at 4, where they should have been. Then I don't believe they would be catching much crap from anyone. As mentioned, and not that it matters now, but Galloway pointed that out from the get go.

That game last night is the reason OSU is in. A close/sloppy win and they are out. They played flawless and were rewarded.

OSU getting in set a nice precedent as far as OOC games go. With OSU getting in after a loss to VT, it's obvious you can schedule good teams, and still be in the hunt if you lose. TCU and Baylor should take notice.

I get what you're saying, but at 6-6 no one would call VT "good."

That wasn't what I meant. I meant that OSU lost to a average/below average VT team, so losing to a good Power 5 team, won't matter a whole lot in the grand scheme of a playoff resume. Basically there is no downside now in scheduling at least one good OOC game.

Ahh, I get what you mean. I still don't see the SEC beefing up their OOC schedule anytime soon though.

Let's be honest VT was terrible this year. OSU rebounded well and played great when it mattered but nothing stops that from being an embarrassing loss.

I still think VT blows, bowl bound or not. It was a bad loss, but we're in the playoff. So right now, I don't give a shit about it. On to Nawlins.
