And most gays are never in a situation where they felt like they are attracted to anything besides the same sex. It works both ways.

What is considered "normal" is quite relative also. Homosexuality was considered very normal in Greece and Rome.

How would I know why anyone would choose to be gay? Why would anyone choose to be a rapist, a pedophile, a drug addict, or a murderer? And that's great..but we aren't in Greece or Rome.

Do you mean being attracted to the same sex, or how one chooses to act on it. If the former, how is it illogical? You did not decide to be attracted to women, you just are. Same with a gay person.

I look at it this way. I never made a choice to be attracted to women. It was just a natural feeling. I believe the the same to be true for homosexuals. They are naturally attracted to the same sex. It would be a choice for them to stray from their natural feelings, as it would be a choice for me to go against my natural feelings.

The reason i believe it is a choice is because ive known i liked woman ever since i stopped believing they had cooties in like 4thish grade. Ive never heard of a homosexual elementary student..So my question is, if they are born gay why would they not realize it the same time as i did?? Or, like i think it is, is it a choice they made based on bad relationships with the opposite sex or other reasons??

Weak argument. Maybe they don't announce their gay in elementary school or maybe confused as to why they aren't "normal".

How do you know that they don't? I'd argue it's far more likely that they do and choose (for obvious reasons) to keep it to themselves and/or to live in denial.

Thats why i was asking.Im not saying im 100% sure its a choice but thats just the way im leaning towards at the moment.

I don't think they know any different until the older. Probably start figuring it out around Jr High, and realize it isn't "normal" and don't want to tell anybody. Hell, I know people in their 40s that still won't come out of the closet.

I didn't choose to be a heterosexual, I just am. I didn't choose to be attracted to women, I just was.

I've never looked at a good looking guy and thought, you know, I'd like to jump his bones. I've never looked at a good looking woman and though, you know, I wouldn't jump her bones.

I don't know, I guess I just have too many gay friends who have been put through hell for being gay. I just can't imagine them choosing the lifestyle.

Of course, I did choose to be a Jets fan which has made my life hell so I dunno...

There is also the philosophy that says God only gives the tough challenges to those he thinks can handle them. I think that being able to determine your true sexual makeup takes a little more sophistication than realizing tnat 4th grade girls don't necessarily have cooties. I too have known folks well into their mid-life crisis times who still have not come to grips with being honest with themselves and continue to live the lie that has made their entire life confusing and disappointing in many ways. A fourth grader can do amazing things on the computer, but still has some problems understanding what all this gay-straight talk is really about. It's a little like being born with the possibility of cancer attacking you because of the high number of cancer related illnesses and deaths in your family. For thirty years you experience no real evidence of cancer other than some vague warning signs, You may even be in your sixties before you have any real indications of cancer, but the inclination has been there for your entire life time.
