Its 110% a choice.

Of course you do realize that "normal" refers to averages and that there isn't a definitive and absolute description, and that the term/word is totally subjective.

Right?

Unless you woke up one day and said "I think I've decided to be straight", the answer is obvious. How you act on it (or not) is a different issue, and IMO the correct issue if one is to bring religion into the discussion.

Right?
If you want to get technical, it also means "occuring naturally". Being gay isn't natural.

Really, so are you implying that gay & bisexual animals cannot be found in nature?

Whether it exists by creation or by being born that way, it occurs naturally. Being uncommon doesn't exclude normalcy.

I'd guess that being gay is about as natural as an animal or human being born an albino. It's not the average, but it's definitely a natural occurence.

First class - born that way
Second class - choice

Seriously, though, I asked my wife what she thought. She said "born". Now we are debating. But, imo, darby hit the nail on the head!

And if you think it's a choice then you must choose not to sleep with men you are attracted to. That is implicitly what all people are saying when they say it is a choice.

I do have a choice as to whether or not I would sleep with men or not..obviously..and it's definitely not happening. B/c I choose that I will in no way be attracted to another dude. Just like some guys prefer tits over an ass, or vice versa. They choose to like one over the other.

Awww, you choose not to be attracted to guys, so you admit that you could be attracted to guys?

I'm pretty sure if you got down on your knees you'd be able to decided pretty quickly whether you like sucking dick or not or having it rammed in your asshole.

Same with lesbos and rug munching
At what age did you choose to be heterosexual?

Was it a hard choice and how long did you contemplate engaging the same sex before you made your choice?

Why call it a choice when there isn't one to make? You do realize your thoughts on why you wouldn't have sex with men are the same for why homosexuals wouldn't have sex with the opposite gender, don't you? By definition, there is no choice there.

I choose to sleep with my wife..not another guy. How am I not making a choice? If I choose to...I could sleep with another guy. But I choose to be a straight man. That is the choice I have made. You can say what you want..but in the end...I'm not going to change your opinions..and your definitely not going to change mine.

Fascinating. It's much stronger than "choosing for me", I find the idea completely repulsive to the point of vomiting - in no way shape or form a "choice" I have to make. "Choice" requires consideration. What you are implicitly saying is you DO have an interest but make a conscious effort to choose not to.

Maybe I've had this wrong all along. Maybe most people do tend bisexual and make conscious choices not to pursue that, which is why they think being gay is a choice. For me, the concept of bisexuality is impossible to reconcile or comprehend beyond a purely hedonistic level (or gay/straight people in denial or trying to conform), which is why I believe people are born gay.

If their brains are different, wouldn't that mean they were born that way?
mallymal614 wrote: If some people is supposedly born gay, why would God give men a penis with sperm inside to reproduce? Why would God give women periods and milk in their breast, if they are suppose to be born gay and not have any children? Hope I’m not getting too graphic posting these examples lol.
You're basing your stance on the premise that there's 100% for sure a god. That's fine, but you can't expect everyone else to accept your premise as fact.

Plus, maybe god wanted to create gay people to see how we'd treat those different than us? Maybe this is all a big test and a lot of people are failing? How can you possibly interpret what exactly god is thinking?
I agree. It’s my opinion, because we all don’t know if it’s a fact or not. Do God really existence? Who knows, but I do believe in a higher being. How else did the universe come into existence? We just didn’t get here. Even if there was a “Big Bang” what cost the Big Bang? I do feel the creator has a purpose for just about everything on this earth. We live off the air we breathe in, while fishes survive in water, due to the way the creator made it. Fruits are grown on plants to give nutrition for our bodies (based on our teeth, we weren’t made to eat meat) and animals with sharp teeth were made to hunt and survive off eating other animals. So I pretty much going off common sense. I do believe the creator made man and woman for a reason. If homosexuality were something a person was born with, why continue to give him or her original characteristics of a man or woman?

See, that's where' you lose me. In no way is that a choice I could ever physically will my body to make. Therefore, it is not something I could consider or choose. I am incapable of making such a choice.

Let me ask you this....Could you choose to love another man in exactly the same way you love your wife? You could create all those physical and emotional feelings simply by choosing to?

Nowhere have I implied that I do have an interest. I said it's possible..if I would CHOOSE so. I have the choice just like anyone else does. But since I choose not to..there is no interest. Nor will there ever be...b/c again...I made the choice not to.

How is it not a choice? Do you choose to be gay or do you choose to be straight? I choose to be straight..I know others who choose to be gay. I wouldn't consider it either..b/c that's my choice.

There is a slight difference. Although some animals and other cultures will have gay sex for pleasure, they still have an opposite sex mate to reproduce. I dont think too many animals live gay lives.

Nailed it. I wasnt born with an attraction to long legs and preference of brunettes over blondes etc.
