All true and good points. I'm very excited about the defense next season with Moeller returning and Ohrian getting his shot at Safety. Hopefully we'll see Sabino start to understand our schemes. If you know you're going to "fall into it" and a team keeps torching you, at what point do you say screw it, Freeman can't cover these guys. You put a LB/S (cough Hines, Cie Grant) in who can cover the guys if they go out for a pass, but can also help in run support. Its really not that difficultLJ wrote:

i do understand what you're saying; yes Oregon got burnt twice last night but they also didn't continually allow them to get stuck in a position to get that matchup and get torched like we have in the past either

You could have a defensive full of All Americans and you're still going to fall into match up problems. It's just eventually going to happen....esepcailyl with the evolution of aRB's becoming pass catchers. That's the chess match of college football and why teams employ offensive coordinators.

Bingo. Teams can audible into things at the line where you don't have the personnel to counter it, no matter what you do. I guess people think that the play callers should always be 100% accurate 100% of the time. As long as Moeller is healthy coming back he should be the 3rd LB. He was going to start this season before the incident but who knows how he will come back. The other guys got a full season of work in while he was sidelined with the injury.
All I know is OSU has immense talent coming back on both sides of the football next year and thats not even taking the recruiting class into account. Imagine if they land Shariff Floyd, a 300+ pound DT that would see time on the line with Simon/Larimore/Goebel.

It's really not at all that simple. A good O-Coord is always going to find something to exploit. We exploited Bowe (or was it Rowe?) a few times last night. I guess I just didn't realize how he fits anything that we do @ 310... we don't have anybody that big, and our bigger guys are agile and can run...the best use of his skills would seem to be as a 2 gap noseguard in a 3-4, something we don't run

We have been trying to get big DT's for some time and just never have gotten any interest. It's possible. Floyd's high school stats and accolades mirror McCoy and their size in high school mirror each other as well. McCoy worked hard in the weight room and is a solid 295-300 now. We better get Floyd. Simon and Larimore should be fine as the starters, but we will no depth at all at DT next season.

OSU is in the lead for Hankins who is a 3 star DT (6'3 326) but has a great offer list from OSU, Bama, UF, UM, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and 5 others mid tier schools.

Well the first thing from that video that jumps out at you is the size. I know this is a tape from his JR year, hopefully he got better at this, is he looks like he plays a little high, saw some guys get into his chest and isn't real sure with his hands yet... sometimes he uses them real well, other times not so much. Looks like he gives great effort, a couple of plays on screens and one or two sideline to sideline plays he made from the backside that were impressive

Spitler waited 4 years to start. Moeller will replace Spitler. Best thing for these type of players is to look at their offer list imo. Moeller starting is not a sure lock though. He lost an entire season and you never know what contact may do to him once he starts up again.

Moeller will be lucky to play next year. He will not be in shape and if He gets hit in the head wrong once his career is over. It is going to be a long road for him. I don't think he will see major time next year.

I think it is 50/50 if Moeller ever suits up again for the Buckeyes. From what I understand, when he resumes contact--->if it causes any more bleeding in his brain, his career is over.
