Im sure I am missing some as well. George Karl would have at a title if not for Micheal Jordan...now he would be coaching his own MJ. I mean, he took Carmelo to 50+ wins FIVE times (not counting a 32-8 stretch when he took over mid-season...that would make SIX fucking times). He led Seattle, who did have real talent in Gary Payton and Sean Kemp, to 50+ wins in ever season he coached there and 60+ THREE times.
There isnt much there to suggest he wouldnt/couldnt win a title with Cleveland. Not wanting him is fine, but Id love to hear you would want instead, and in no way would it be a BAD hire.
I'd stay with David Blatt. Team has 9 new players, and only been half a season, especially with now having 3 new players picked up in the last 2 weeks, that will be in the post season rotation.
Funny you bring up the Sonics.....He won 63 games, and lost in the first round. Next season he won 57, and you guessed it, lost in the first round. He just doesn't strike me as a championship quality coach. He's a less successful Don Nelson. Great coach, but not a championship level coach, and that's ok, if you're not a team built to win championships.
If a move is made, it needs to be in the offseason, and at that point you'd want to look at a Mark Jackson, Tyron Lue, Ettore Messina, Adrian Griffin type. Someone who's coached in the NBA, either as a head coach, or assistant coach.
