No that is a hard hedge, it is then up to the big defender to get back to his man instantly therefore no switch occurs. Watch the Spurs, they do this as well as anyone. You don't see Duncan getting switched out very often like that do you? It's extremely difficult obviously against a team like GS with how they can spread the floor and play small ball.

I think the window to win in the NBA is narrow for most teams. If you're close you do whatever it takes, I think Presti's shine is coming off after getting fleeced in trades and striking out in FA recently. I would also fucking hate the OKC owners if I were an OKC fan for being cheap as shit.

Minor fact correction: Cliff Lee did NOT help us get close in 2007. In fact, I'm still bitter at him for literally only sucking that year of his career (until injuries/age got him).

Kanter could be a 20 and 10 guy, he's not going to do much on defense and it's not like OKC is really going to run anything through him offensively if RW and KD are healthy. Then again, they have Ibaka so I can see why they would want to keep him.

For Portland, I don't get the move, unless it's just to make OKC overpay for him. It's still a gamble. He will basically have to be LaMarcus Aldridge all over again and make a name for himself. Name recognition wise, Kanter has been buried until the end of the year last year when he got some pub with OKC, so selling fans on "we lost Aldridge, but paid Kanter a max deal" isn't going to fly until he starts putting up the numbers.

With that said, he's overpaid in this situation, but the price for big men is staggering. They are ridiculous, actually.
