It works pretty quick. The reason there is 10 or so in a pack is to also treat any inflammation. The same medicine is used for ulcers. After two days on it you should notice a difference. But like others have said, to keep it away for good is changing your diet. Stress can lead to heart burn sensations also.

For me losing some weight takes care of my heartburn (I carry any extra weight in the abdominal region). I'm around 5'10". If I stay below 190 heartburn is rare. Currently in the 180's not feeling the burn.
