I got back after midnight and had very little contact of what happened over the weekend.....what the fuck happened to the steelers? I know the buccs were embarrassed by the falcon and all but man..to lose that game is unacceptable and a season changer for the worst.
In short: Over the final few minutes of the game, they pulled off the world's best Cleveland Browns impersonation for finding hilariously bizarre ways to lose a game.
They led 24-20 (after not really doing anything in the second half after scoring on their first possession of it) and made a tough defensive stop to get the ball back deep in their territory with a bit under 2 minutes to play and TB having two TOs left.
On their drive, instead of running out the clock, they wound up going 3-and-out and having to punt it back. They would have gotten a first down on their second down play, if not for how they'd gotten a 5-yard penalty before that play, so the 8 yards on Ben's pass to Wheaton only made it 3rd and 5 instead of 1st and 10.
Punter has a shit punt (29 yards) to give the ball back to TB on the Pitt 46 with under a minute and no timeouts. So they immediately hit a 41-yard pass and scored shortly after.
For the cherry on top of the shit sundae, just watch their attempt to do a trick "do a bunch of laterals and hope something happens" play to end the game. Even by the usual standards of this play, theirs was sad.
