Figured we have enough gamblers to have a season long thread.

Who does everyone like Week 1?

2 that I've seen that look enticing are Chicago -6.5 and GB +7

GB +7? No way, Seahawks are going to light them up.

What's the early spread on Pitt/cle? May have to put some money on Cleveland to cover if it's more than 6-7 points

I've seen anywhere from Cleveland +6 to Cleveland +7.5. All lines will probably solidify by end of today.

As for GB/Seattle, you are probably correct. But, a touchdown is a lot of points to give for a team who will likely win the division.

Tough gambling IMO before we know much about anyone. First 2 weeks would be very tough to pick.

I don't disagree but coming off a Super Bowl season it's their first game back the crowd will already be crazy. I'm actually going to bet hard on Seattle.

First part of the season is where you can make your hay. We don't know who is going to be good or bad but neither do the oddsmakers. They miss a lot more early in the season. Once they have all the data, they are pretty good at setting lines where there isn't too much value either way.

For example, I think the Falcons return to form this year. This week, you can get them at home +3 or better vs the Saints. If the Falcons end up being a 10-12 win team and the game was later in the year, they would be favored by 3 in that game.

Do they not adjust early on knowing that no one really knows? Do they make a 4.5 a 6.5?...or do they let it go knowing those winning money early will be losing it later?

There is too much dumb money for them to ever lose in the NFL. If you want win in the NFL, you have to be on ugly sides throughout the year and many people aren't willing to put their hard earned money on the Jags or the Raiders...even though they covered 12 times last year. Two years ago when Jacksonville went 2-14 they were 7-9 ATS.

My point is this...if you think you have a bead on a certain team, you have the opportunity to make some money before the market adjusts. Nobody saw the Panthers going 12-4 last year but if you saw it coming, you made a bunch of money betting on the Panthers before everybody realized they were legit. I'm going to try to make some money this year going against Panthers because I think they come crashing back to reality.

I'll be in Vegas For a week starting this Saturday. I'm staying at the MGM so I've been looking at their lines. The games I'll probably put some money on are

Cincinnati +2.5
New England -4.5
Chargers +3

I like Atlanta and Baltimore at home with the spread less than 3 (ATL +3, BAL -1.5). NO and CIN are better than those 2, but either of those road teams would need a major in-division statement to win an opening road game.

I'll give the points every week to Cleveburgh...they aint winning shit this year, on the scoreboard or on the spread.

My over / under on how many games Hoyer starts before the idiots in NEO start screaming for Manzier is 3.

50 what? No way is $$ being exchanged on a msg board dipshit. If I lose I'll change my tag line to say "Dey Durkie is not the sniveling, whiney, maladjusted, creepy dickweed everybody thinks he is" if you lose you change your tag line to say "Tiernan is way smarter than I could ever dream of being".

So Footwedges and Tiernan both unwilling to pony up cash?

Also, the money sign goes BEFORE the number. I have no idea why, but this error has been happening more and more and it drives me fucking crazy.
