FatHobbit;1632333 wrote:I currently have 8 horses and they are a huge waste of money and time. (Emphasis on time. If you don't mind paying, they will still suck up all your time. ) I agree with most everything mcburg said. Do you have any experience with horses? Do you have a truck and trailer or some way to transport them?

I would recommend that you find someone who knows what they are doing and then lease one for a few years. It might seem more expensive but it will save you money in the long run.
It'd be $175/month to board. That includes hay, cleaning, watering. I'd have to buy feed, farrier, vet. We'd have access to indoor and outdoor arenas, rings, and about 8-9 miles of paths.

Yoy fucking retard. Don't get a god damn horse. All that's gonna happen is your going to bitch about it on here and start threads about dumb horse shit. "Where should I buy feed?" "Has anyone taken a horse to the vet?" Stop being a bitch and tell your family no. You've never owned a horse nor will it be worth it in the end. Dumb fucking retard

Hay, it sounds like you're in a stable relationship. Just say no, saddle up, and deal with the fallout.

Honestly, I can see a lot more bad coming out of this than good. As in:

GOOD: Daughter happy.

BAD: Everything else. EVERYTHING.

A friend of mine's wife has three horses. We did the math and in five years time he could cash off a car with the expense of the donkey's as he calls them. Not worth five to six grand a year IMO

This is why it's good to lease. If it doesn't work out, you just walk away.

$175/month is good for board. You should also budget for tack and a few lessons. Vet bills can kill you if something goes wrong.

The upfront cost of horse will cover all tack.
