That was Rivera's son that got picked. I couldn't believe how many people got fooled by that. A simple DOB check would have made it obvious.Ironman92;1623520 wrote:He got picked before Mariano Rivera
or an ounce of common sense.lhslep134;1623573 wrote:That was Rivera's son that got picked. I couldn't believe how many people got fooled by that. A simple DOB check would have made it obvious.

Don't know what you are talking about?lhslep134;1623573 wrote:That was Rivera's son that got picked. I couldn't believe how many people got fooled by that. A simple DOB check would have made it obvious.
People on twitter (shouldn't be a surprise). SB Nation tweeted it out that the Yankees took Mariano Rivera without clarification, and some people responded, well, like idiots would.Ironman92;1623588 wrote:Don't know what you are talking about?
lol well yeah but I said that because SB Nation's tweet contained the DOBPick6;1623578 wrote:or an ounce of common sense.
I saw it on twitter via MLB....assumed it was either his son or maybe even a random player with that name.lhslep134;1623593 wrote:People on twitter (shouldn't be a surprise). Why?Pick6;1623562 wrote:840+ picks? how big of a joke is the mlb draft
Johnny Manziel was drafted. I don't think I need much more to prove my point.Laley23;1623604 wrote:Why?
They need to fill, what, 32 major league rosters as well as 5+ rosters of their affiliates...not to mention the amount of HS players who need to be picked and end up choosing college.
.0011% of the picks were not taken seriouslyPick6;1623621 wrote:Johnny Manziel was drafted. I don't think I need much more to prove my point.
That proves nothing.Pick6;1623621 wrote:Johnny Manziel was drafted. I don't think I need much more to prove my point.
what evidence do we have that suggests Manziel would ever consider playing baseball, let alone possesses anywhere near the skill to play in the MLB besides playing little league and throwing out a few first pitches? As far as I know he wasn't offered and college scholarships.Laley23;1623625 wrote:That proves nothing.
Because a team was willing to "waste" a pick on an NFL QB in hopes that he might choose baseball over the NFL?
Agreed, but it shouldn't come to that. The NFL has it right with their special PR stories. Free agency.lhslep134;1623626 wrote:If you assume the Padres are looking at the future value of each pick, they'll probably end up making more money from Johnny Manziel Padres shenanigans than whoever they would have taken there.
Joke pick, but shrewd business move IMO.
well you got me there I guess. Still don't think it merits wasting a draft pick on him.Laley23;1623642 wrote:Manziel was poised to play baseball and football at Oregon...Then he switched to Texas A&M
They aren't filling one roster of 70Pick6;1623562 wrote:840+ picks? how big of a joke is the mlb draft
